Valve has released an updated version of itsgaming console - Steam Deck OLED. As the name suggests, it received a new type of display, but the upgrade did not stop there: the device also improved its battery life, acquired faster RAM and support for Wi-Fi 6E. At the same time, the new product costs less than its predecessor with the same storage capacity.


The portable console features a 7.4-inchOLED screen with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels, and peak brightness of up to 1000 nits in HDR and up to 600 nits in SDR. The maximum display refresh rate is 90 Hz. In addition, coverage of 110% of the DCI-P3 color space and a response time of 0.1 ms are claimed.


The “heart” of the Steam Deck OLED is a 6nm AMD processorwith four Zen 2 cores (8 threads) and clock speeds up to 3.5 GHz. Its “embedded” design on RDNA 2 architecture (1.6 GHz) has 8 computing units with a performance of 1.6 Tflops (FP32). The amount of RAM LPDDR5-6400 is 16 GB, NVMe storage is 512 GB or 1 TB. The console is powered by a 50 Wh battery, which, according to the specifications, provides up to 12 hours of gameplay.


In addition, the manufacturer equipped the Steam DeckOLED ambient light sensors, Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E modules, 3.5 mm audio jack and USB Type-C connector with DisplayPort function. Steam Deck OLED will go on sale on November 16 at a price of $549 for the 512 GB version and $649 for the terabyte version.
