Samsung's super fast charging disappointed experts (4 photos)

Smartphone battery charging speedis one of the most important technical characteristics of modern mobile gadgets. Only recently, Samsung, during the presentation of the Galaxy S10 5G, introduced a 25-watt charger, which provides super-fast battery recovery. However, already in the Galaxy A70, such charging was included in the starter kit.

Enthusiasts have conducted comparative testing fordetermining the difference in chargers that provide fast (15 W, previous generation) and super fast (25 W, new generation) charging. The experiment used the Galaxy A70 with a 4500 mAh battery and both chargers.

The initial conditions were the same: 3% residual charge of the device under test. Control time for checking the charge level: 30, 45 and 60 minutes from the start of charging. Super fast (25 W) memory showed the following results: half an hour - 33%, 45 minutes - 51% and 60 minutes - 67%. A fast (15 W) device showed such results: half an hour — 26%, 45 minutes — 49%, and 60 minutes — 60%. When charging the Galaxy S10 + with a 4100 mAh battery using a 15 W charger, different results were obtained: 34%, 52% and 67% charge.

The test results showed that the speedCharging devices with different power differs by small values and not in proportion to the power of the chargers. Presumably, Samsung engineers deliberately reduce the recharging rate to extend the battery life for a longer period of time. However, buyers will have to think about whether to overpay when buying a new gadget for the claimed super-fast charge.
