The State Duma approved a draft obliging the authorities to create pages on social networks

The State Duma of the Russian Federation approved in the second reading a bill obliging authorities and local self-government, and

also their subordinate institutions to createtheir official pages on social networks, RIA Novosti reports. The bill proposes to expand the ways of ensuring access to information, namely “to establish obligations for bodies and organizations to create and use official pages on social networks to post up-to-date information about their activities.”

The Russian Ministry of Digital Development will develop an appropriatefunctionality based on the Unified Portal of State and Municipal Services (functions), which will provide the possibility of automated management, publication and editing of information in social networks by authorities and organizations. As stated in the explanatory note, now for a number of types of budgetary organizations there are requirements in the legislation for the creation and maintenance of official websites, but in modern realities this is not enough - new, more familiar to citizens and regularly used by them methods of communication have developed, social networks are the most popular.
