Kia held an official presentationthe new electric crossover Kia EV6, built on the E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) platform used by Hyundai for the production of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric vehicle.

Three serial modifications will be launched on the marketKia EV6. These are the base model EV6, the high-performance EV6 GT-line and the EV6 GT sports car. It is planned to supply vehicles with two types of battery packs: with a capacity of 58.0 kWh or 77.4 kWh, as well as with rear-wheel drive RWD or with automatically connected AWD all-wheel drive. The EV6 GT models will only use a 77.4 kWh battery pack.

Rear-wheel drive modification of Kia EV6 withbattery 77.4 kWh when measured according to the WLTP cycle will provide an autonomous travel distance of 510 km. The all-wheel-drive version of the Kia EV6 generates a maximum torque of 605 Nm, reaching a speed of 100 km / h in 5.2 seconds. For rear-wheel drive versions of the electric vehicle, an electric motor with a power of 168 kW (229 hp) is used, and in an all-wheel drive version, an electric motor with a power of 239 kW (325 hp) is used.

Kia EV6 base models with 58 battery packkWh also generates 605 Nm of torque and reaches 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds. At the same time, an electric motor with a power of 125 kW (170 hp) is installed on the car. For the all-wheel drive model with a 58 kWh unit, a 173 kW (235 hp) engine is provided.

In the EV6 GT sports cartwo electric motors are installed with a total power of 430 kW (584 hp) and a torque of 740 Nm, which provides acceleration to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 260 km / h.

Models support charging technology withvoltage 400 and 800 V, without the need for adapters. Recharges from 10 to 80% of the battery capacity in just 18 minutes. For the RWD EV6 with a 77.4 kWh battery, in 4.5 minutes you can refill enough charge to cover a distance of 100 km. The vehicle implements the Vehicle-to-load technology, which allows recharging partner cars or even powering household appliances at a power of 3.6 kW. The EV6 range features recuperation technology as well as the reuse of heat from the cooling system.

The EV6 dashboard has two12-inch screen: one monitor is designed to control the car, and the second is part of the infotainment system of the electric vehicle. There is also a projection screen that displays the speed and direction of travel. Kia Connect software updates over the air and allows the driver to track the location of charging stations and schedule recharging along the route. The Meridian car audio system is powered by 14 speakers featuring Active Sound Design (ASD).

The EV6 has a wheelbase of 2900 mmwith dimensions 4680x1880x1550 mm. In the standard position with the second row of seats unfolded, the boot volume is 520 liters. With the second row of seats folded down, the volume increases to 1,300 liters. The front luggage compartment provides storage space of 52 liters for the rear-wheel drive model and 20 liters for the all-wheel drive model.

Drive Wise safety system ensuresprotecting the passenger from collisions with moving cars when exiting EV6. The LFA (Lane Following Assist) software module provides automatic keeping of the car in the selected lane. There is also an unmanned parking assistant RSPA (Remote Smart Parking Assist).

Production of EV6 electric vehicleswill be organized at factories located in South Korea. The first cars will go on sale in the first half of 2021. In the European market, the cost of EV6 electric cars starts at 40 thousand euros (Kia EV6 Standard Range 2WD model with a 58 kWh battery). The Kia EV6 Longe Range 2WD (77 kWh) modifications are priced at 50,000 euros, the Kia EV6 Long Range AWD (77 kWh) at 55,000 euros and the Kia EV6 GT (77 kWh) will sell for 65,000 euros.
