MediaTek leads the 4G smartphone processor market

According to research company Omdia, MediaTek has taken the leading position in the market for processors for

smartphones in the 4G segment.In the first quarter of this year, MediaTek accounted for 53% of the total volume of this segment. Another 19% was supplied by Qualcomm, and 14% by Unisoc. The market for 4G models is consistently declining, falling in the first quarter by 30% compared to the results of the same period a year earlier. In total, 99 million 4G smartphones were sold in the first quarter.

Among the largest buyers of processors fromMediaTek is a Samsung and Xiaomi company. Qualcomm sells most of its processors to Xiaomi and Huawei, with Huawei betting on Qualcomm processors while ditching its own-designed Kirin processors. In 5G processors, Qualcomm leads the way with 31% of all shipments in the segment.
