Apple AirTag used to track the movement of the package

Users from all over the world continue to exploretechnical capabilities, and not always standard ones, of the Apple AirTag tracker. An enthusiast from England conducted an interesting experiment with a gadget designed to find lost things. He put the AirTag in a parcel, and then was able to track the path of the parcel along the entire route of movement, up to the destination.

The mission given to AirTag seemedimpracticable because the device does not have a GPS module and only uses nearby Apple devices. The built-in Ultra-Wide Band chip is intended for this, which allows transmitting the tracker's location via the nearest iPhone and the Locator application.

Given the prevalence of mobile devicesfrom Apple, the developers hope that such opportunities are quite real and will accurately determine the position of the AirTag. An experiment by a UK resident confirmed Apple's claim. The Locator application clearly tracked the route of the parcel from one city in England to another, which confirmed the presence of iPhone users along the entire route.

Commenting on his research, the enthusiast noted, that a clear tracking of the package will most likely be possible only in large cities "saturated" with iPhone. Meanwhile, in the sparsely populated countryside, AirTag may get lost.
