Announcement. Vivo iQOO Z7i - an old friend with a kind of new chipset (MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset debut)

Vivo has launched a smartphone in its native China called the Vivo iQOO Z7i. And this is the world's first smartphone based on the fresh MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset.

A few words must be said about Dimensity 6020.Surprisingly, this chipset, in terms of its characteristics, is like two drops of water similar to the super-popular Dimensity 700 born in 2020. The only difference visible to the naked eye is the declared support for screens with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Which, however, for some reason is indicated in the specifications as “optional”. I wonder what they meant?

So we don't expect anything from the chipset. AnTuTu will have the same 300-350 thousand points as the progenitor. And, of course, there is support for 5G networks.

If we ignore the chipset, then we find that Vivo iQOO Z7i is almost an exact copy of smartphones
Vivo Y53t 5G,
Vivo Y35m 5G and
Vivo Y35 5G. Only this trinity has a chipset - the same related Dimensity 700, the colors are slightly different, and the screen refresh rate is lower ...

With the refresh rate of the screen, by the way, thingsare funny. In the old trinity, it is only the standard 60 Hz (although the chipset supports 90 Hz). And the newcomer has 90 Hz (although the chipset “optionally” supports 120 Hz). That's how mysterious they are.

About the rest of the characteristics.

Memory. From 4 to 8 GB operational, 128 GB permanent. There is support for memory cards.

Standard IPS screen. Diagonal 6.51″ (102 cm²), resolution 720×1600 (270 ppi). I already said about the refresh rate - 90 Hz.

The battery is the most common - 5000 mAh. Slightly accelerated charging - 15 watts.

The set of cameras is the simplest. 5 MP front, 13+2 MP rear.

There is support for 5G networks, there is Type-C and dual-band Wi-Fi. The fingerprint scanner is located on the side. No NFC module and no support for our LTE bands.

Cost Vivo iQOO Z7i will be quite inexpensive.
¥949 (₽10300, $136), ¥999 (₽10900, $143) and ¥1099 (₽12000, $158) for the 4+128, 6+128 and 8+128 GB versions respectively.
