"Chinese Tesla" presented the Nio ET7 electric car with an autonomous mileage of more than 1000 km (7 photos)


Chinese Automotive EngineersNio showcased a prototype of the electric vehicle of the future with impressive autonomy thanks to its massive battery. The premium electric sedan Nio ET7 was unveiled at NIO Day 2020.


The Nio company, unofficially named"Chinese Tesla" has developed a new sedan Nio ET7 on a twin-engine platform with a total capacity of 480 kW or 653 hp. A 180 kW permanent magnet motor is installed on the front axle, and a 300 kW asynchronous electric motor on the rear axle. The maximum torque is 850 Nm, which will reach a speed of 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds. Tesla's Model S Plaid flagship all-wheel drive sedan with three engines with a total output of 1100 hp. capable of reaching 100 km / h in less than two seconds.


Sedan Nio ET7 will be produced with batteriesof various capacities. The base model with a 70 kWh battery will provide 500 km of autonomous driving on the NEDC cycle. The model with a 100 kWh battery guarantees a trip of 700 km without the need to recharge. The Nio ET7 flagship car with a 150 kWh battery will provide autonomous travel over 1000 km.

Another advantage of the new product from Nio will beon-board computer hardware equipped with a variety of systems and sensor sensors focused on autonomous driving. The main computer of the Adam sedan is based on four NVIDIA Orin SoCs (one SoC consists of 17 billion transistors and provides performance up to 254 TOPS). In total, the Nio ET7 supercomputer is equipped with 48 processor cores, 8096 CUDA cores, 256 third generation tensor cores and the total computing power will be 1016 TOPS, which will process up to 8 GB per second.


The delivery of data to Adam's computer is fromthe NIO Aquila Super Sensing system, which includes 33 highly sensitive elements, including 11 cameras with a resolution of 8 megapixels, a LiDAR scanner, 5 mm radars, 12 ultrasound scanners, 2 high-precision positioning units, V2X and ADMS. The presence of a large number of external sensors did not affect the design of the car in any way.


To realize autonomous driving functionsNio used Tesla's marketing trick. In the basic configuration, the car will be supplied with a standard set of free features, and advanced features will be provided by subscription for an additional fee.


The base model Nio ET7 will be around 69thousand dollars in China (excluding benefits). Under the NIO Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program, the electric vehicle will be offered at a lower price, but with a monthly battery fee. Vehicle deliveries to pre-order customers (RMB 5,000 or $ 772) will begin in the first quarter of 2022.
