The butterfly robot will teach kids the basics of drawing (2 videos)

Teaching children the basics of drawing will help a newDrawBo gadget developed by a startup of the same name and launched on the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform. DrawBo, a personal drawing teacher in the shape of a butterfly robot, distracts children from the computer and instills drawing skills using traditional tools: pencil and paper.

It only takes the DrawBo robot to workA couple of minutes. On a vertical surface, a whiteboard, a sheet of paper, or other surface on which the robot could conduct drawing lessons should be fixed. At the top corners of the surface, glue one of the hooks supplied with the DrawBo kit and attach the cords to them, which are then connected to the movement system in the robot. Changing the length of the cord outlet one by one, the butterfly robot “flies” over the entire surface for drawing.

At the center of the mechanical drawing teacherthere is a hole into which, perpendicular to the plane of the robot butterfly, a marker, pencil or pen is inserted, directed by the writing end to the drawing surface. DrawBo receives energy for movement from the electrical network, and moves along the surface in accordance with the program specified in a special application.

The basis of the methodology for teaching children usingDrawBo, the drawing becomes splitting into separate, sequential strokes. Drawing after a robot controlled by artificial intelligence, the child will be able to master the basics of drawing using the example of 500 drawings proposed by the startup, supplied in a special application on a smartphone. Using this application, you can not only select a sample of the drawing, but also control the speed of movement of the robot, which is necessary for teaching kids with different degrees of training and different ages.

The California team that developeda butterfly robot, has already worked with such well-known companies as Yahoo, Oracle and Microsoft. The new DrawBo device can be ordered on Kickstarter for $ 149, and it will retail for up to $ 200.
