In Russia created a portable display

Perm students have developed a portable matrix display that can be used as a size, billboard or for displaying games.

Specialists from the Perm NationalResearch Polytechnic University have created a portable display on addressable RGB LEDs. It is assumed that it can be used as dimensions or advertising screens, as well as for games. The development was presented at the All-Russian student scientific and technical conference "Automated control systems and information technologies".

At the heart of almost every display are LEDs −electronic components capable of emitting light. Thanks to them, you can create a large screen and even paste over the facade of a small building. However, there is now a need for mini-screens that can serve as dimensions on personal mobility aids or displays for displaying useful information.

At the heart of the student-developed PermPolytechnic matrix display are addressable (supplemented by the controller) RGB-LEDs - emitters of red, green and blue colors assembled in one housing.

The display is a "layer cake" ofpieces of LED strip glued in a zigzag onto multilayer plastic, which are subsequently connected by wires. The maximum display size is 60 by 60 centimeters, or 1500 by 1500 LEDs. The pixels are formed by a 3D-printed grating made of biodegradable plastic, covered with a light diffuser made of sandpaper-treated translucent polycarbonate.

A smaller version of the display - 14 by 14 centimeters— you can carry it with you: attach it to a backpack or scooter as marker lights or a scoreboard to display text or an image. In addition, the display may be suitable for games with simple graphics such as Super Mario Bros.
