Zeva Aero's custom 'flying saucer' undergoes flight tests (video)

Flying electric vehicles with vertical takeoff andlanding (eVTOL) in the near future may become a familiar element of the infrastructure of modern megacities, suffering from numerous traffic jams and gigantic emissions from cars with an internal combustion engine.

One of the pioneers in the development of compacteVTOL zero-emission taxi startup Zeva Aero has conducted the first successful series of unmanned tests of its Zeva Zero vehicle, whose disc-shaped body resembles a tiny "flying saucer".

Compact air taxi Zeva Zero in sizeslightly larger than a standard motorcycle and can be parked in a regular garage. The first flight tests took place in the state of Washington, in rural Pierce County. During four test flights, the Zeva Zero was airborne for a total of 4 minutes and completed all takeoff, landing, hovering and altitude control maneuvers.

Specifications Zeva Zero will allowflying electric vehicle to move at a horizontal speed of up to 160 miles per hour (257.5 km/h) with an autonomous flight range of up to 80 km. According to the developers from Zeva Aero, the first customers of the "flying saucers" may be representatives of island states, as well as lovers of extreme recreation.

The next tests will be held this spring, when the engineers check the fine tuning in vertical flight, they will study the possibility of changing the flight path. Already in the spring it will be possible to make a preliminary application for the original eVTOL device by making a deposit in the amount of 5 thousand dollars. The total price of the serial Zeva Zero will be about 250 thousand dollars.
