Yamaha has developed a hydrogen outboard motor (2 photos)

The Japanese company Yamaha Motor has presented a prototype of a boat motor that does not have a harmful effect on the environment. The development will be shown at the Miami International Boat Show in 2024.

The invention was announced as part of plans forachieving carbon neutrality of the first and second categories by 2035. Each level corresponds to a certain amount of greenhouse gas emissions according to the GHG Protocol standard. However, achieving the third level, where CO2 levels are reduced by 98.6%, is much more difficult, since it requires reworking the entire supply chain: from the extraction of raw materials to the sale of the final product. The company plans to achieve this by 2050.

No information about technical characteristicsthere won't be a new hydrogen outboard motor until February 14-18. At the same time, Yamaha plans to show autonomous mooring technology for boats and talk about breakthroughs in biofuel synthesis.
