A couple of weeks ago, vivo introduced the X80 and X80 Pro flagship smartphones in its home country. They received

a logical continuation of the X line: a new processor, different cameras and batteries, a redesigned appearance and much more.

Whether these beauties will go on sale with us, alas, is unknown. Let's hope that at the end of the summer we will still be able to meet them.

In the meantime, I got it for a short periodtime the previous flagship called X70 Pro+. I can say in advance that I got a lot of positive impressions: I used a really powerful device in every sense, which put many modern A-brand devices into the belt.

Why the X70 Pro+ is so good:

Powerful design and ergonomic features

The vivo X70 Pro+ smartphone is one of thosedevices that inspire confidence: large, well-assembled, using quality materials. You take it in your hand and you understand that this is an expensive and powerful thing.

For example, OnePlus 10 Pro did not make such an impression, although it was partly assembled on more productive hardware, and the materials were not simple - metal, glass and even ceramics.

I used the X70 Pro + device together with the brandedcover under the skin. This is also a kind of new experience of use, because the material of the case is very pleasant, and the shape is made as ergonomically as possible. Moreover, it partially covers a large block of cameras in such a way that its edges are no longer sharp. However, when interacting with the phone, the index finger still rests on the block with cameras, allowing you to support the gadget from the back.

The back cover of vivo is rough, reminiscent of fine sandpaper. Even traces remain from the nails. Luckily they are very easy to remove.

Filling the entire right side of the camera block with a glossy insert is a bold move. Not exactly practical. But if you have a case, then there will be a semi-gloss plastic insert in this area.

The power button is quite thin and narrow, not very convenient to use. The rocker key is made in the same way.

At the corners of the front panel, the glass is sloping, socalled 3D rounding. I wrote many times that I don’t like this display design: it looks cool, but practicality leaves much to be desired. However, as they say, there are no comrades for the taste and color.

I liked the work of FaceID.Everything is very fast, accurate, without any problems. And the device also has an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner: it does not blind the eyes, the recognition accuracy is high, the unlocking speed is excellent.

Separately, it is worth talking about vibration. Here it resembles the work of the Taptic Engine: pleasant, tactful, without buzzing, integrated into the entire system, that is, it works not only when typing.

The speaker is very loud, the sound is clear.And all because it forms a stereo sound paired with a speaker at the bottom of the device. At the same time, there are equal speakers with the same volume and other parameters.

And the smartphone has the highest degree of protection for consumer devices – IP68. Of course, I have seen devices with IP69, but these armored gadgets are not for everyone.

Total: I can put vivo X70 Pro + in first place in terms of the impression of the sensations that a smartphone causes: expensive, powerful, solid, strong, protected.

One of the best displays

Before you is just a gorgeous matrix, which many flagship devices can envy.

The vivo X70 Pro+ display not only has a high resolution of 3200×1440 pixels, but also runs at a refresh rate of 120Hz even at maximum dot density.

The picture is juicy, the color rendition is saturated,the brightness is about 600 cd/m2, and in HDR mode it rises to 800 cd/m2. I think the developers made this range on purpose, since the most voracious Snapdragon 888+ is used inside the device, and the battery capacity is only 4500 mAh. That is, the brightness could have been made higher, but there were restrictions on the operating time.

The vivo X70 Pro+ display made a good impression on me. Reminds me of the screen in the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. The image is like a quality glossy magazine.

vivo has an AOD mode, but notifications are enabled for only four apps. Strange limitation. But there are different cool screensavers for the lock screen.

Bottom line: an excellent matrix with high resolution and screen refresh rate - one of the best displays even for 2022.

Average device life

I think that experienced readers are already aboutcalculated the approximate operating time of the X70 Pro+. Everything is quite simple here: a 4500 mAh battery, a screen of almost 6.8 inches, a QHD resolution, a refresh rate of 120, and even a Snapdragon 888+ processor. This suggests that we cannot get more than 5 hours of screen glow at automatic brightness.

In reality, the device gives out 4 - 4.5 hours of screen glow. This figure is slightly below the average of almost all modern flagships. I have enough battery until the evening with relatively "light" use of the device. But, of course, this is not the Asus Zenfone 8, which I charge up to four times a day. However, apparently, for a year of active "torment" the battery has already sat down there.

Of the advantages of the X70 Pro +:

The battery charges very quickly. Gets up to 45% of energy in 15 minutes, and up to 100% is charged in 50 minutes.
There is wireless charging as much as 50 V!
There is 10W reverse wireless charging.

Total: the operating time is average, but due to very fast charging you don’t suffer at all: 15 minutes - and here you have another 3-4 hours of active interaction with your smartphone.

About hardware and performance

In fact, everything is as clear here as withthe previous paragraph. Inside are the most advanced components at the end of last year. The device can be equipped with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal memory.

In my case, there was a 12/256 GB version. The built-in memory is very fast - more than 500 MB / s for writing and more than 1200 MB / s for reading.

The processor needs no introduction - QualcommSnapdragon 888+. Very fast but very hot. However, I like him because he works honestly. This means that he gives his best when it comes to handling complex tasks.

Many reviewers cite the game as an exampleGenshin Impact, they say, here it loads the device in full. I think so. However, I have a suspicion that the game itself (if anyone plays it at all, and does not test phones) is wildly laggy: on this phone it goes like this, on the other - that, on the third - in general, everything turns into a slideshow.

Almost all games are stable at 60 fps and above. All programs start and go smoothly, without brakes, without system friezes.

Total: a very fast processor and memory, the device “pulls” any games and programs, I didn’t notice the shell brakes - everything works as it should!

Super cameras and the coolest video features

I slowly began to move away from choosing smartphones based on camera capabilities. Although 3-4 years ago, the main priority fell precisely on megapixels, resolutions, stabilizers and other camera features.

The fact is that most modern devices began to shoot both photos and videos at an extremely decent level. Moreover, these gadgets can be mid-budget smartphones.

In this case, we have a flagship for adequate money. But simply gorgeous cameras are installed here, and their capabilities can be compared with professional “DSLRs”.

I won’t talk about the X70 Pro+ cameras on a large scale, as this will take up the volume of a separate review, so it’s short and to the point.

The main module is 50 MP with f/1 aperture.57 and optical stabilization, and even with laser focusing. You need to get a beautiful close-up with a strong background blur - refer to the main camera.

The wide-angle camera is equipped with a 48 MP sensorand has Gimbal Stabilization 3.0. This means that you have stabilization not only along the X and Y axes, but also along the slopes. Moreover, the software has the usual “stub”, reinforced and even along the horizontal axis, like GoPro: you tilt the phone, and the picture remains static!

Vivo also equipped the X70 Pro + with two zoom lenses: 12 MP with 2x zoom and 8 MP with 5x zoom. Of course, again, with optical stabilizers.

The first lens will be useful when shooting portraits, and the second lens will be useful for shooting objects far away from you.

Well, the video resolution can be selected 4K at 30-60fps (main camera, "wide" and 2x) and even 8K at 30 fps (only the main and 2x). But the 5x zoom lens can only do 1080p at 30 fps. This is understandable, because there is only an 8 MP module.

In general, if you are confused about cameras in smartphones, then vivo X70 pro + is absolutely your choice!

Two speakers are used here - conversational and the one that is located below. They form a pair - stereo, and equivalent: the volume of the speakers is the same.

The quality is not bad, but not the ultimate. There were devices with steeper speakers. The volume is slightly above average.

The sound in the headphones inspires confidence, the volume is high, the power and flow are on the level. Another question: if you install a DAC, then you need to use 3.5 mm in the phone, and not let the sound through the adapter.

Of course, the smartphone has Bluetooth codecs SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, LDAC.
