The State Duma adopted the Law on the blocking of pirated content

The fight against copyright infringers in Russiawill reach a qualitatively new level after the entry into force of amendments to the Law on Information Technologies. Most recently, the bill, considered in the State Duma, has been significantly amended to tighten the fight against pirated content. Legislators have promptly reviewed the amendments and have already voted on the draft law in the second and third reading.

In accordance with the new application standards inInternet that violate copyright or related rights should be immediately blocked. The law also applies to application aggregators, namely AppStore, Google Play and other application stores.
The law stipulates that if the owner of the information resource does not restrict access to the application, information about the need to block the application will be sent to telecom operators.

It is assumed that after passing the Federation Council and signing by the president, the Law will enter into force on October 1 of this year.
