Kaspersky Lab: blocked 151 thousand attempts to switch to phishing resources mimicking Telegram

Kaspersky Lab software solutions blocked 151,000 attempts to cross Russian

users to phishing resources thatimitated the Telegram messenger, the press service of the company reports. This is 37 times more than in the same period last year, and is almost half of the total number of such attempts for the whole of 2022 in Russia, the company notes. A surge in the number of such phishing attacks began in November last year. In most cases, the goal of phishers is to lure out credentials: a phone number and a verification code. Attackers can use the gained access to accounts for various purposes, including theft of confidential data, blackmail, and sending fraudulent messages.

Among the most common schemes arean offer to take part in voting, for example, for the best children's drawing. Phishing messages can often be sent from stolen accounts - according to the contact list in the messenger. In order not to fall for the tricks of phishers, Kaspersky Lab experts recommend using two-factor authentication in all services where possible, be critical of messages that ask you to do something right now, for example, follow a link, transfer money, don’t follow links from suspicious messages, even if they were sent by friends.
