Soviet TVs
Let's start with what the majority definitely hadpeople - TV. Until about the 1980s, televisions were black and white, and there were a maximum of two or three TV channels. During Soviet times, there were dozens of models of "boxes", but they all looked the same, except for small details. The appearance of the Soviet TV included: a convex gray screen, a control panel on the right or left, and a wooden case. Of course, the old televisions were heavy and large - they looked very strict, even severe.
There were no remote controlstherefore, to switch TV channels, it was necessary to get up from the sofa and twist a special knob or press buttons, it all depended on the TV model. However, in many families there was a personal "remote control" - the youngest child.

Soviet sewing machines
In Soviet times, almost all women knew how touse a sewing machine. This was due to the fact that it was expensive to regularly buy clothes - you had to make something from scratch, and “repair” something. Sewing machines were passed down from mother to daughter. Some copies are still working and are actively used in everyday life - even in 2022!
Perhaps the most popular sewing machine in the USSRwas the device "Podolsk". It is easy to recognize by the golden ornament on the black case. For convenience, it was equipped with a special wooden box with a handle. The sewing machine was easy to set up and even coped with sewing leather. In addition to Podolsk, there were other sewing machines - see the photo below.
Soviet irons
There were also many models of irons in the USSR.They were heavy, but they worked for decades - some copies are still in working condition. Sometimes they had to be repaired, but the repair was simple. Usually the maximum required to replace the wire.

Soviet kitchen appliances
Kitchen appliances in Soviet times were alsodifferent and mostly mechanical. An example is a meat grinder - this miracle of cast iron technology is still used by some families. It is impossible to break this device; only a dull knife can cause problems.
The boiler is also worth special attention - this is the simplest device that can boil water for tea or background in a couple of minutes. The main thing is not to turn it on without water and not leave it to work unattended.
Many families had a Lakomka waffle iron. With the help of it, people prepared thin sheets of dough, spread condensed milk and rolled it into a tube. The perfect dessert for tea was ready.
Also, “nuts” were regularly prepared for tea - cookies with condensed milk inside. Today, such sweets can be bought in many grocery stores, but they can hardly be compared with homemade ones.
Mixers in the USSR were manual, so some effort had to be made when using them. They were made of plastic and often jammed, but they still did their job.
Finally, every kitchen had a garlic press, which performed a number of useful functions. First, he added garlic perfectly, which was his main task. Secondly, this device easily cracked nuts with its teeth on the handles. Thirdly, it was equipped with a small pin for extracting cherry pits. They were very durable, so they are still used by people.
