Corning created Gorilla Armor glass with enhanced scratch protection

Protective glass on the screens of modern smartphonesThey're durable enough to withstand a few drops, but they're still fairly easy to scratch. Perhaps now the problem has been overcome or at least reduced - the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has received more reliable screen protection in the form of the latest glass from Corning.

Sometimes it feels like scratching the displayIt’s even easier to find an expensive phone than before, and protective films and glass for them are still selling well. But at Samsung's Unpacked event, Corning unveiled its next-generation Gorilla Armor glass, which moves forward on several fronts. This glass is installed on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra presented yesterday.

Corning predictably assures that this is the mostdurable glass for displays, and in the coming days there will be many stress tests on YouTube that will confirm or deny this. But, what’s more interesting, according to the developer, Gorilla Armor is the most scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass, and it protects against scratches four times more effectively than competing products on the market.

“To appreciate its exceptional resistance toscratches, Corning has created a new laboratory test called “Scratch Bot” to simulate the micro-scratches that occur during everyday use. In this rigorous test, Gorilla Armor showed no visible scratches and demonstrated more than four times the scratch resistance of competing aluminosilicate safety glasses,” Corning said.

Corning also claims that Gorilla Armorimproved in terms of visual clarity. “Compared to a conventional glass surface, Corning Gorilla Armor reduces reflectivity by up to 75%, improving display readability and minimizing screen reflections in virtually any environment,” the developer added.
