Announcement. New Amazon Fire 7 and Fire 7 Kids Edition are super-budget tablets

Amazon has updated its famous seven-inch tablet. Meet the Amazon Fire 7 (2022) and its three-to-seven-year-old variant

The previous version of the tablet, Amazon Fire 7 (2019), was released exactly three years ago. And the very first, Amazon Kindle Fire, was born already in 2011.

Curiously, the main characteristics of the screen withhave not changed one iota since then. As it was in 2011, a seven-inch (138 cm²) IPS-matrix with a modest resolution of 1024 × 600 (170 ppi), so far it has remained the same.

Chipset.If in the 2019 model there was a completely ridiculous MediaTek MT8163 chip born in 2015, then the “relatively fresh” MediaTek MT8168 of 2019 was installed in the new tablets. Only four cores, in AnTuTu - about a hundred thousand points.

Doubled the amount of RAM, now it's 2 GB. Permanent memory, as it was, 16 or 32 GB. There is support for memory cards.

Amazon traditionally does not report the battery capacity. But it promises that the tablet's operating time has grown by forty percent.

Cameras are not of great interest. Modest two-megapixel modules both in front and behind.

There is no mobile internet support. There is dual-band Wi-Fi and Type-C.

About money.Versions with ads on the lock screen will cost $59.99 (₽3810) and $79.99 (₽5080) (varieties for 2+16 and 2+32 GB, respectively). If you want without ads, you will have to pay $74.99 (₽4770) or $94.99 (₽6040).

Amazon Fire 7 (2022) Kids Edition features a plump case.
Plus a two-year warranty, plus a year of Amazon Kids Plus subscription. Well, the software, of course, is preinstalled somewhat differently.

The children's tablet costs $109.99 (₽6990) and $129.99 (₽8260) for all the same varieties of 2+16 and 2+32 GB, respectively (no ads, of course).
