AiSee AI headphones describe objects in front of them to blind people (video)

A promising gadget can scanspace and identify objects in front of a person. It is being created by a group of scientists from the National University of Singapore. They hope that the development can significantly simplify the lives of people with vision problems.

Externally, AiSee resembles headphones connectedwith a hard strap. The design is attached to the neck so that the gadget does not attract much attention. A 13-megapixel camera is installed on the left side of the body, with which AiSee scans the space in the owner’s field of view. The shackle houses the chip and battery.

When the owner of AiSee picks up an item, the device takes a photograph of it, after which artificial intelligence studies the image. The program analyzes shape, size, color and even printed text. If it matches an object from the database, AiSee tells the person what exactly is in front of him.

AI can be asked questions without needconnection to a smartphone. AiSee developers intend to refine the design of the gadget and make it more ergonomic. It is also planned to increase the speed of data processing and improve object recognition algorithms.
