New MacBooks and Mac minis

Of course, new

iron is pure delight.Even though I switched to Windows over the past 6 years and I understand that I don’t want to go back to macOS, I can’t help but admit that Apple shows everything so juicy that I want to run as fast as I can with money clenched in my fist.

I propose to go through the most interesting points in points:

  1. Laura Metz, Director of Product Marketing, starting her part of the presentation, she clearly indicated who Apple sees as the target audience for the new MacBook Pro: working with media content (in the original, the word “artist” was used, which means everyone from artists and photographers to 3D modelers), developers or scientists. This is a rather important clarification, as it cuts off anyone like me who will complain that laptops weigh more than 2 kilos, that typing on a new keyboard may not be so convenient, etc. The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros are said to be 100% workstations for professionals, not for those who like to surf the internet in a trendy cafe.

On all promotional materials, people are engaged in business. No latte freelancers, journalists and other frivolous citizens. For them, there's the entry-level Mac Mini or MacBook Air/Pro 13-inch.

  1. Speaking of weight! The new MacBooks have two chipsets to choose from: M2 Pro and M2 MAX. The funny thing is that the M2 MAX chipset is 10 grams heavier than the M2 Pro. The 16-inch MacBooks are identical except for the chipset, with the older model weighing 2.16kg and the younger 2.15kg. Everything is logical, in M2 Pro - 40 billion transistors. And the M2 MAX has 67 billion transistors, or 38 graphics cores, which is 19 cores more than the M2 Pro. I'm sorry, but for some reason the different order of numbers is terribly amusing. A difference of 10 grams of weight is a difference of 19 graphics cores, or 27 billion transistors.

Based on the presentation, Apple compared the sizes of the chipsets.

Creative SFXI Air Gamer gaming headset review. Let's scan your ears

Creative Customized Gaming HeadsetSXFI, which will require you to provide a photo of your ears and install two apps on your smartphone. She also has two microphones in the kit and the promise that she can replace a regular smartphone headset.

  1. In accordance with the positioning here and allbody kit. So, the HDMI port (for starters, it is there!) Supports an 8K display, 3 Type-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, an SD card slot. But the classic USB Type-A is not here. In principle, I agree, they would only disfigure the body. Wi-Fi here is also the most advanced Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3.

  1. Up to 4 external displays can be connected to the laptop (3 6K + 1 K or a combination of 2 6K and 1 8K).
  2. Native laptop screens are amazing too.The base brightness is 500 nits, but you can turn on the screen in XDR format, which promises a stable brightness of 1000 nits across the surface. The display supports refresh rates up to 120Hz (ProMotion depending on content). Considering the declared brightness, it is not surprising that laptops continue to use IPS LCD panels (Apple calls them Liquid Retina XDR, if you are wondering why liquid (Liquid), then due to the fact that the corners are smoothly curved)

  1. To some extent, Mac mini is even more interesting thanMacbook Pro. Apparently, Apple has extremely big plans for the most affordable macOS computer. Starting price is $599 for the M2 chipset with 8 GB of memory. The top version with the M2 Pro and 16GB of storage starts at $1,299 (versions with more RAM or storage are available for extra money).

  1. The Mac Mini has dual positioning. On the one hand, this is a powerful computer for professionals. We were shown how cool you can do design and business tasks on it. On the other hand, this is the optimal home computer that combines the functions of media and game consoles.

Apple Savings at its finest. Instead of another Type-C power connector, a two-pin proprietary port was used. Although, maybe this is how it should be: stuck and forgotten. Note: Charging uses a standard IEC 320 C7 cable ????‍♂️.

  1. Especially during the presentation of the Mac Mini impressedforcing theme of gaming. Speakers emphasized that Mac is a great solution for games. Viewers were shown how cool it is to play on the Mac Mini in No Man's Sky and Resident Evil Village. It would be logical if the speakers said about games from the App Store (they say that you can play games for the iPhone), but no. They mentioned two releases that can be attributed to modern AAA games (okay, No Man’s Sky is junk, but Resident Evil Village is quite AAA, which DLC is coming to).

  1. Continuing about games. For quite a long time, Apple deliberately avoided the topic of gaming, which, although super profitable, did not fit in with the image of products for professionals. It suffices to cite the example of HP, which reformatted the OMEN brand, saying that it is not only for gamers, but also for creative professionals. As a result, gamers turned sour, and creative professionals showed no interest. Now the Mac Mini, with its good performance, may well claim the title of home game console. Game makers, in theory, should be interested. Still, users of Apple products are known for their prosperity and relaxed attitude to spending.

But look at future advertising campaigns andannouncements. If Apple succeeds in attracting the attention of gamers, then the company will open a new layer of a very solvent audience. Still, good gaming laptops often cost even more than MacBooks.

LeEco S1 Pro

I continue to follow the throwing brand LeEco.About a year ago, LeEco was mentioned in the context of the LeTV S1 smartphone. Its highlight was that the device was 100% assembled from domestic (made in China) components. A kind of song about import substitution. In the smartphone, everything from the plastic case to the chipset, display and memory was Chinese.

And now LeEco is back in the spotlight with the LeEco S1 Pro smartphone. Visually, the smartphone seems to resemble something, don't you think?

Well, if you look from the back side, then everything immediately falls into place.

LeEco S1 Pro is a 100% iPhone clone. Moreover, such a clone that it would be customary to see that way in 2011-2012, when this topic was held in high esteem. It even copied the design of Dynamic Island.

The smartphone was priced at only 899 yuan, which is approximately9,000 rubles. This is an entry-level smartphone based on the domestic Zhanrui T7510 chipset based on the 12 nm manufacturing process (I bet you have not even heard of such chipsets), 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, a 5000 mAh battery, a 720p screen, a 5 MP front camera, and the main camera is 13 MP. And yes, you understood correctly, there is only one main camera, the other two lenses are imitation plugs.

I perceive LeEco S1 Pro not just as a clone, butas a sign of the times that a crisis is sweeping the planet. People have less money, but still want to have expensive things, as they say, to match. In difficult times, fakes, clones, fakes come to the rescue.

5 facts about Amazfit GTR 3

Stylish smart watch for all occasions…

The customer goes to the market and buys not the expensive Adidas sneakers, but the cheaper Abibas model. The motive is simple: anyway, no one will see the difference, but I will save money.

Also, the release of this model indicates the positionApple cases in China. You should not think that LeEco launched this model from the bulldozer. The company feels that Apple's position in China is weakened: the company has no political leverage, it is looking for a balance to please both the Chinese and the Americans, while trying to move production to India (and the Chinese see this, which further weakens Apple's position). LeEco takes advantage of all this and launches a 100% clone.

Well, let's see what happens next.

Smartphones and Generation Z

Back in December I read it in The New York Timesfunny material about the so-called teenage club "Luddites" (if you forgot, then in the 19th century there were uprisings against industrialization, people broke into factories and broke machine tools). In short, teenagers (high school students, college students) united in a common desire to abandon smartphones. Some have simply removed social networks from their smartphones, others (more radical ones) have switched to flip phones and push-button phones altogether. Instead of chatting in messengers, they regularly get together, read, play, and discuss. Accordingly, now you have to go to the library to get books, cook food (because you can’t order a courier), and so on.

The New York Times quotes one of the club members as follows: “As soon as I gave up my smartphone, everything immediately changed. I started using my brain again."

And just the other day I read a column inFinancial Times, in which the author reflects on the fact that her daughter began to spend less time on her smartphone and even deleted TikTok. The author comes to a positive conclusion that, they say, maybe there is no need to regulate the time that teenagers spend on smartphone screens, over time they themselves will understand what is best for them.

On the one hand, regulate the time on the Internetfor a teenager, this is generally a dead number that creates a wall between a parent and a child. It's like with motorists: you can hang as many speed cameras as you like, but if there is no driving culture, then people will simply begin to figure out where the cameras are hanging and stomp heartily where there are none.

On the other hand, all these games in denialsmartphones, the use of wired headphones instead of wireless (if you missed it, then this is a definite trend - to use wired earplugs again) - this is all exactly what games are trying to stand out. If everyone has TWS headphones, then how to attract attention? Of course, you need to use wired ones. Does everyone drive petrol cars? Answer: TESLA! Everyone has an advanced smartphone. So, then the "button"!

At the same time, certain things are happening in the worlddebunking the myth about generation Z and the next generation "Alpha". It is believed that these are the first digital generations, that is, from the cradle they are surrounded by smartphones and computers.

This is probably why it is believed thatwith technologies and computers "digital" to "you". But it's not. In the professional sphere, this even leads to excesses, when young professionals are not explained too much how this or that software works for work, believing that they themselves will figure it out.

Salesforce and HP conducted research on this subject, having found out that, firstly, representatives of generation Z experience a certain shame, as they are embarrassed to admit that they do not know something about computers and smartphones.

Secondly, the digital generation is generally bad.versed in technology. TikTok, Snapchat, social networks - please! They are able to watch. But this does not translate into useful computer skills. Relatively speaking, representatives of Gen Z cannot open Explorer in Windows and go to the user's folder. They can open a browser. That is, they are accustomed to what is on the surface, but they understand what is inside worse than you and I. Generation Z has never had the problem that the modem driver only works on Windows 98, but refuses to run on Windows XP at all, and you have to comb the forums for a solution.

The Saleforce study looked at Britishschoolchildren aged 13-18, that is, the future workforce. The researchers were surprised to find that teenagers often lack even basic digital skills. In this regard, they sounded the alarm, as it turns out that experienced professionals are gradually leaving and the so-called digital divide is growing.

All this I bring to the fact that people do not change. They, as before, do not like to turn on the brain. And mastering technology requires brains. So it's ridiculous to think that a new generation that was born surrounded by computers will start to understand technology on its own as if it were their mother tongue.

All that distinguishes the new generation from the old is habits. They are more accustomed to texting in a messenger than calling, it is easier to order food than to cook or go to the store, etc.
