  • In China, the Xiaomi Pad 6 tablet was released back in April, but in other markets appeared only now. One of the main advantages of the model was the 11-inch IPS LCD display - it boasts a high resolution of 2880 × 1800, a refresh rate of 144 Hz and support for Dolby Vision.

There is also a good Snapdragon 870 processor and6/8 GB RAM. Internet connection is via Wi-Fi 6, but there is no SIM card support - it is available only on the Pro model. You can connect a stylus or a keyboard case to Xiaomi Pad 6 and turn the tablet into a mini laptop. This is a great option for gaming and watching movies, as well as for work and study.

    Unpacking and packaging

The Xiaomi Pad 6 tablet comes in a large cardboard box from a company known for other products.

In addition to the tablet, you will also find accessories:

    • USB cable
    • User's manual
    • 33W USB-A to USB-C charger

    Design and features

Xiaomi Pad 6 is a fairly thin and light tablet: its weight is 490 grams, and the body thickness is only 6.5 mm.

The display is covered with Gorilla Glass 3, and the sidesframes and back panel are made of aluminum. The bezels around the 11-inch display are standard thickness, and one of them accommodates an 8MP camera. If you hold the tablet in landscape orientation, the power button will be on the left side, and the USB-C connector and microphone will be on the right side.

In addition, each side has twodynamics. At the top, you'll see the volume keys, two microphones, and a magnetic connector for the Smart Pen. There is no fingerprint scanner on the new Pad 6 - you will have to enter a password or turn on face recognition through the front camera.

There are no extras on the back of the tablet.elements. On the left are three magnetic connectors for connecting the keyboard case and the Xiaomi logo, and on the right is a square module with the main camera, LED flash and microphone.

    Tablet screen

Xiaomi Pad 6 has a gorgeous 11-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 2880×1800 pixels and a density of 309 ppi.

The color depth is 10 bits, so the displaydisplays more than 1 billion shades, and the refresh rate is dynamic and rises to 144 Hz. There is support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision technologies. The display is covered with Gorilla Glass 3 and has no unnecessary elements.

The front camera is installed in the top frame.Nearby is a color temperature sensor that adjusts brightness based on ambient light. True, the indicator does not rise above 500 nits, which is a very mediocre result.

In the Pad 6 settings you will find three colorprofiles: Original (sRGB), Vivid (DCI-P3), and Vivid (DCI-P3 with all hues boosted). For each of them, you can manually adjust the color temperature or select an adaptive mode that adjusts the hues depending on the lighting around.

Default refresh rate togglesAutomatic: When watching a video, it is 30Hz, 48Hz, or 60Hz. When showing a static image - 50 Hz, and the rest of the time it is 90/120/144 Hz, depending on the application.

Xiaomi has also added AI HDR Enhancement,in which the SDR content slightly increases the detail in the light and dark areas. There is also an option MEMC - increasing the frame rate by interpolating them. True, sometimes because of this, a “soapy effect” appears, and the videos look even worse.

    Stylus and keyboard case

If you like to draw or take notes by hand, you should immediately buy a Smart Pen stylus with Xiaomi Pad 6.

It has 4096 pressure levels and 150 hoursoffline work. Charging is done directly from the tablet - a minute of recharging gives seven hours of work. Xiaomi Smart Pen has two buttons: the first one opens the Notes application, and the second one changes the color and thickness of the text. In other applications, the second key allows you to select an area of the screen and take a screenshot. Both buttons can scroll the page in a book or browser.

Another useful accessory for Pad 6 isKeyboard Case with 64 keys of 1.3 mm travel. You can create hot key combinations, and the buttons themselves are covered with a special material that glows a little in the dark. It's a smart alternative to under-keyboard backlighting, which would waste too much power.

The case is also convenient, because it allows you to tilt the screen at one of two angles. The stand in this case is securely attached to the back panel and has never accidentally detached during my tests.

    Camera Pad 6

Although tablets are not the best gadgets for photography, the Xiaomi Pad 6 has two cameras: one in front and one in the back.

Rear mounted OmniVision sensorThe OV13B is 13MP with autofocus and has an 8MP lens in the top bezel above the display. The front-facing camera supports FocusFrame, which means you'll always be in the center of the frame when making video calls - as long as you don't move too far away, of course. If another person appears in the frame, the viewing angle will increase, and after the disappearance it will decrease again.

The 13 MP main camera is proofthe fact that to get high-quality photos it is not necessary to have the latest sensor with a huge resolution. Photos are characterized by a mass of details, high contrast, accurate hues and a wide dynamic range.

    Main camera

The lens on the back of the Pad 6 is capable of shooting4K video, and recordings look as good as photos. The resolution of the front camera does not exceed 1080p, but this is enough for video communication.

    Sample Photo Software

The new Xiaomi Pad 6 runs on the Android 13 operating system with the MIUI 14 shell.

On tablets, the MIUI version looks almostjust like on smartphones, although there are several optimizations for a large display. All icons are located on the home screens, although you can enable the app drawer as well.

Widgets with large folders are supported, andThe Google Discover feed is tablet-optimized. In some applications, the screen is divided into two halves: on the left are the control keys and menus, and on the right - the main content. At the bottom of the Pad 6's display, you'll see a taskbar that lets you quickly open the app you want.

MIUI 14 is well suited for multitasking -there is a split screen and floating windows, and you can open two such windows at the same time. Finally, if you have a new Xiaomi smartphone, you can quickly transfer files from it or cast screen content to your tablet.

    Performance Pad 6

The Xiaomi Pad 6 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor, it uses eight cores, the main one of which has a clock speed of up to 3.2 GHz.

Responsible for high frame rates in gamesAdreno 650 video chip, RAM can be 6 GB or 8 GB, and internal memory - 128/256 GB. The performance of the Pad 6 is not bad, although the Xiaomi tablet is inferior to some competitors in the price segment.

In the GeekBench 5 test, the device scores 602/2924points, and in AnTuTu 9 - 697,906 points. The result in the Car Chase ES 3.1 graphics test is 24 fps. Under load, the speed of work practically does not drop: the central processor retains up to 94% of its performance, and the graphics one - up to 82%. It is also important that the case does not heat up even during long gaming sessions.

    Sound and speakers

Xiaomi Pad 6 has two speakers on the sides, and the sound is all right here.

The speakers are high volume and excellentsound quality, although the upper frequencies sometimes lack clarity. Alas, there is no 3.5 mm jack on the Pad 6, so you have to use wireless headphones.

    Xiaomi Pad 6 autonomy

Xiaomi Pad 6 received an 8840 mAh battery, which is a good indicator for a tablet.

Battery lasts for 11.3 hourscontinuous web browsing at 144Hz or 12.5 hours of video playback at 60Hz. The tablet comes with a 33W charger. In half an hour, it charges the battery by half, and full restoration of energy takes an hour and a half.

    Total

The Xiaomi Pad 6 is a great mid-range tablet that makes several important improvements over the previous model.

Here is a handy aluminum case, 11-inch144Hz high resolution display, powerful hardware and fast charging. With the addition of a keyboard case, the Pad 6 turns into a mini laptop when the Smart Pen is handy for drawing and writing notes by hand.

The quality of shooting from both cameras is high, and the MIUI shell is well optimized for a large display. The only thing missing is a slot for a memory card and support for a SIM card, but these are minor shortcomings.

    Should I buy

The new Pad 6 from Xiaomi has become one of the best Android tablets in its price segment thanks to its high-quality display and powerful hardware. The device is definitely recommended for purchase!
