Announcement. Fresh Apple iPad Pro 12.9 - evolution to Apple M2

Yesterday, Apple introduced the updated tablets of the iPad Pro family. We meet
Apple iPad Pro 11.0 (2022)
and
Apple iPad Pro 12.9 (2022).

Since the release of the previous generation (models
iPad Pro 11.0 (2021) and
iPad Pro 12.9 (2021))
a year and a half has passed.

The update is purely evolutionary. They did not touch the cases and colors - outwardly the models are indistinguishable.

Screens and batteries… If any changes andis, then according to the stingy specifications they are not visible. So much memory. They probably worked with the cameras, but both the number of cameras themselves and the number of megapixels remained the same. And who cares about cameras in tablets anyway?

What changed? First of all, the chipset.Instead of the Apple M1, they expectedly put the fresh Apple M2, which was previously used only in laptops and which is a couple of tens of percent more productive. It will be interesting to look at the AnTuTu test results. But intuition tells us that again we will get somewhere in the region of a million parrots.

The Wi-Fi version has changed. Instead of just six, we have Wi-Fi 6E.

Screen sensor bled.Now he can feel the Apple Pencil (2nd generation) styluses at a distance of up to 12 mm from the surface. I can’t imagine how this can be useful to me personally, but the feature is certainly cool.

What else. Well, cameras have been trained to write video in ProRes…

Memory. Still 8 or 16 GB of RAM, from 128 GB to 2 TB permanent.

Screens.IPS-like Liquid Retina in the smaller model (11″, 366 cm²) and Liquid Retina XDR on mini-LED in the older brother (12.9″, 515 cm²). The refresh rate is up to 120 Hz, the number of dots per inch is exactly the same - 265 ppi (resolution 2388 × 1668 and 2732 × 2048, respectively).

The battery capacity is 28.65 and 40.88 Wh, respectively.

Cameras. 12MP primary and 10MP wide angle. Plus a LiDAR scanner. And the front camera is also 12 MP, as it was.

And about money.US prices start at $799 (₽49,300) for the 8+128GB 11.0″ Wi-Fi version of the tablet and finish at $2,399 (₽148,000) for the 16+2048GB 12.9″ 5G version. For Europe, the price range is from €1,049 (₽63,500, $1,030) to €3,024 (₽183,000, $2,970).
