The inventor and builder of the extraordinary vessel was François-Alexandre Bertrand, who came up with the original concept of surface-underwater travel 10 years ago.

The Platypus Swordfish is an entertainmenta 40-foot (12.1 meter) floating craft with a unique ability to travel both above water and under water. Diving is carried out using hydraulic levers. Platypus Swordfish can accommodate one pilot and up to seven passengers.

Underwater tourists are protected by a reliabletransparent plexiglass cockpit that can be retracted when surfaced. Air is supplied to the enclosed cockpit using a compressor, which will allow travelers to swim underwater without masks.

The inventor promises to supply the market with cleanelectric and hybrid variant of Platypus Swordfish. The electric vessel is powered by two 500 kW engines with 400 Wh batteries, which guarantees a top speed of up to 40 knots (74 km / h) at a cruising speed of 18 knots (33.3 km / h). The autonomous travel range at an economical speed of 7 knots (13 km / h) is 115 nautical miles or 213 km.

The Platypus Swordfish Hybrid will receivefour engines: two petrol 900 hp each and two electric motors with a capacity of 80 kW. At the same time, the maximum speed increases to 50 knots (92.6 km / h) and, according to the manufacturer, the autonomous travel range will become much longer.

Platypus Swordfish production slatedat the beginning of 2021, and the first samples of the vessel are planned to be presented at the Monaco Yacht Show 2021. Currently, private investors from the United States and the Persian Gulf countries have already shown interest in purchasing Platypus entertainment vessels.
