Announcement. Motorola Edge 50 Pro – a handsome mid-range smartphone

The luxury mid-range smartphone Motorola Edge 50 Pro has been announced in India.

Interestingly, last year's Motorola Edge 40 Pro was a flagship, cost corresponding flagship money, and originally went on sale in Europe. Has the heir become much worse? Not sure.

The iron, of course, was of a lower grade.The top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has been replaced by the fresh Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. 800-900K in AnTuTu. We can't compete with current superchipsets, but the performance is more than decent.

Memory. 8 or 12 GB RAM, 256 GB storage. Permanent memory is not the fastest. UFS2.2. It is unclear whether there is support for memory cards. More likely no than yes.

pOLED screen with refresh rate up to 144 Hz. Standard diagonal, 6.7″ (108 cm²). High resolution – 1220×2712 (444 ppi).

The battery has a capacity slightly below average – 4500mAh Why is that? Because they installed wireless charging - we charge 50 W, we send out 10 W. Super-fast wired charging – 125 W. (But the corresponding charger is included only with the older version of the smartphone; the younger version comes with a 68 W charger in the box - which, however, is still not bad).

Cameras. Everything is great here too.

• 50 MP – main camera with OIS. The sensor is unclear, but something quite large, with 1.00μm pixels.
• 10 MP – 3X telephoto, also with OIS.
• 13 MP – simple wide-angle camera.
• 50 MP – front camera with autofocus, small sensor.

There is full protection against water and dust – IP68. The fingerprint scanner lives under the screen. There is an NFC module. Wi-Fi sixth. There is no standard audio output.

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro will cost ₹31,999 (₽35,500, $384) and ₹35,999 (₽40,000, $432) for the 8+256 and 12+256 GB versions, respectively.

IMHO, cool device. If only I could remove the wireless charging from it and increase the battery a little, it would be absolutely magical. Although everything is fine anyway, so what?
