The world's first serial smartphone with a hidden underthe camera screen was presented by ZTE on September 1 this year, recently the smartphone entered the European market. The author of the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel Zach Nelson tested how the innovative camera works and how it works by disassembling the ZTE Axon 20 5G smartphone. Noting that this is the technology of the future, and ZTE is pioneering the technology in everyday gadgets, Nelson paid tribute to the company's engineers, noting that "the technology is surprisingly good."

ZTE Axon 20 5G selfie camera has a sensorresolution of 32 megapixels. According to experts earlier this month, the quality of shooting with the front camera leaves much to be desired. Nonetheless, Nelson was impressed by the introduction of the technology into production units.
During the complete disassembly of the ZTE Axon 20 5G smartphonethe specialist noted too much glue, which complicates the process of dismantling parts, including the battery. The front camera sensor Zach Nelson removed from the back of the smartphone. The camera device does not differ from the standard sensors installed in conventional smartphones.

The expert also dismantled the ZTE Axon 20 5G speaker, also placed under the screen and transmitting acoustic vibrations to the display surface.

During the disassembly, it was found that for the implementationthe sub-screen camera, ZTE engineers used two displays: a standard large OLED screen and a small one located above the front camera. Nelson also demonstrated the ability to look "through" the camera's selfie hole thanks to the transparent screen.
