The world’s coronavirus pandemic is raging, which has already affected millions of people. And now I'm talking not only about those who became infected, but also about those who lost their jobs, fell under wage cuts or can no longer do business. The world economy has not experienced such a strong blow for a long time, even during the 2008 financial crisis. In the past three weeks, nearly 17 million Americans have applied for unemployment benefits; for comparison - usually 10-11 million such requests are submitted per year, not more. And this is still no statistics on business losses, but believe me, the situation there is no better. Can anyone benefit from this pandemic?
Leave the manufacturers of medical masks, mechanical ventilation andpharmacies - it is clear that at this time they have a lot of work, and now no one will close in the medical sectors. Another thing is a business that works. offline. This is a cafe, restaurants, small shops (notgrocery), various services. Even if countries didn’t close such establishments, they would still encounter great difficulties: most residents sit at home and prefer not to contact anyone again. At such a time, keeping the same restaurant open for visitors simply does not make sense - it is more advisable to focus on delivery. And here I am smoothly approaching those who, despite all the problems, will not only be able to survive the pandemic, but even benefit from this.
First of all, these are services for the delivery of products, equipment and any other goods. If we talk about the United States, then in the same New York (and not only) such services are working for wear and tear. Jeff Bezos, chapter Amazon - America's premier delivery platform - saysthat the company can barely cope with the load, so it wants to soon hire another 100,000 couriers. You can imagine? When all companies lay off their employees, Amazon can afford that luxury. “Wear work” sounds, of course, not very, but let's not forget that in the case of Amazon, this is all money. A lot of money.
That is why the demand for Uber Eats over the lasttime soared to an unprecedented 30%. And various services for the delivery of goods begin to call themselves business on a federal scale and increase staff to, for example, deliver wine! In just a couple of weeks, many of them became millionaires (or even billionaires), and judging by the fact that the picture in the United States is still not improving, they will continue to increase their fortune. All the same, sooner or later it will all end, and the creators of such services will be provided until the end of life.
A similar picture can be observed in Russia. I often order products and goods in various services such as Ozon or "Delicacy", and there was a time when deliveryI had to wait a few days. Sometimes part of the products were not brought at all, or it was necessary to place an order at certain hours (just like in Spain, where in order for you to bring products from Amazon, you need to place an order at 00:00). I understand that services simply can’t cope with the influx of orders from those who are currently sitting at home. But the other part of me realizes that all this is MONEY for them. And if there weren’t all this situation, their profit by the results of the last month would be ten times less.

Another category of companies that definitely doesn’tthere will be problems - everyone involved in online business. Take the same Zoom video conferencing service that only office clerks knew about two months ago. Now this is almost the main way of communication during a pandemic. And what about the Google Glassroom, which many Russian schools have switched to? Demand is growing to colossal values. In March, the active daily audience of the Microsoft Teams collaboration online service grew from 32 million to 44 million in just a week! And it continues to grow at a tremendous pace. The record of conversations with the help of this service has already been broken - people talked almost 3 billion minutes in just a day!
Not to mention the entertainment industry, whichalso on the rise - from streaming services with music and films to games in which they began to play 3, or even 5 times more often! Could you imagine this before a pandemic? Unless in the Christmas holidays. And now this happens all the time, and no one sees the end of this growth. Obviously, such companies will have everything “in chocolate” during and after the coronavirus pandemic.
What will happen after the pandemic?
My colleague Mikhail Korolev generally believes that soon even couriers will be missed by such organizations and they will replace employees with drones or robots.
And that, quite. Won service Wildberries (you probably know him, it's something like Amazon, but with a smaller assortment) employed 3,000 people in 2 weeks. They obviously have no problems with money, but there is a problem with personnel. As with services like “I take” and other marketplaces.
Who else will survive the pandemic? Of course, IT companies, everyone whose business goes online. In Russia, Yandex and Mail.ru can be attributed to such a company. In quarantine, their services are used by much more people who, again, provide corporations with additional profit. The same "Yandex.Food" is in great demand, services for the online appointment of doctors and many others. Now the street is clearly in crisis, and those who have more “subcutaneous fat” are surviving in the crisis, and Russian IT companies have been accumulating this “fat” for many years.
Well, do not forget that even in case of problemsit helps large companies in the first place - you can recall which banks received state support during the financial crisis. Not so long ago, specially for this, it was updated list of backbone organizations Russian economy, which includes not only Yandex and Mail.Ru Group, but even Internet service providers and other large IT companies. Small and medium-sized businesses in some countries also help, but their resources are not unlimited.
So after the pandemic there will be a lot - they will closecafes and restaurants (which are still afloat), online and offline stores, but it doesn’t occur to anyone that something serious will happen to Yandex, Wildberries or Sberbank. The world’s largest technology companies have long wanted to make less influential, but since these companies will survive the crisis, they will only become stronger in the end.
