"Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness"

When: already

To begin with, I want to remind you that, finally, inA new film about Doctor Strange from the Marvel Cinematic Universe has appeared on the Internet in excellent quality. It did not come out in cinemas in our theaters, so we can say that for Russia, Disney chose the Direct-to-video format, when the film, bypassing the big screen, is immediately sent to media for home viewing.

The film is surprisingly good, and definitely not for children.call. Multiverses are, in general, as I understand it, the best that the scriptwriters could adapt, since now you can kill anyone and anything, and in the end just say that it was a character from a parallel universe. Thanks to this approach, Doctor Strange turned out to be not only darker, but even to some extent flirts with horror films.

Amazing moment:in order to be on the same page with the characters in the film, it is assumed that the viewer must have previously watched the WandaVision series, which aired on the Disney+ streaming platform. A very presumptuous act on the part of Disney. However, perhaps they are counting on after-sales. For example, I watched the series only after watching the movie in order to better understand all the fuss. Although there are still questions to such a model. After all, Disney+ is not available in all countries.

"Obi-Wan Kenobi"

When: already

I want to remind and recommend another series from Disney +, the last episode of which was recently released.

I don't know if it's because Obi-WanKenobi is such an important character to the Star Wars universe that it was impossible to mess with him, or finally found a sensible screenwriter, but this is the first Star Wars series from Disney that is not questionable.

No soap here, no empty episodes without promotionplot, and, it seems, even did without the typical agenda of racial and gender values (or did it so organically that they didn’t pay attention). An excellent story for six episodes, which complements the third episode of the main saga.

Also on the set were Hayden Christensen and Liam Neeson, who played Anakin Skywalker and Qui-Gon Jinn in the original films.

Westworld Season 4

When: already

Season 4 of Westworld kicks off at the endJune, and now the series is in the process of being shown. I haven't watched a single episode yet. And, frankly, I can’t figure out how to approach, because I completely forgot what was happening in the previous three seasons.

So far, the new season has gathered dramaticallyconflicting reviews. Some talk about a boring and banal story, others that the series is still catchy and surprising. Those who started watching are invited to share their opinion in the comments.

"Boys" / Boys, 3rd season

When: already

Usually with serials it's always like this:The first season is excellent, the second is worse, but you can watch, and then the drag and nonsense begins. "The Boys" is a pleasant exception. I enjoy watching a new episode every Thursday. The showrunners still manage to impress and surprise, with the same success following the development of the main story and the characters' personalities.

The Boys is a great option for those who are annoyed by pompous superheroes and supervillains who are sure to conquer the world.

"Sonic-2"

When: already

Surprisingly, what is the first, what is the second film aboutblue supersonic hedgehog turned out good. The film was supposed to be shown in theaters in mid-April, but it did not work out. However, you don't have to stop watching.

In the new film, Sonic will meet Knuckles the Echidna, voiced by Idris Elba, and Tails, the two-tailed fox. Jim Carrey still plays the evil genius Doctor Worker.

It turned out to be a good family movie, watching which both children will have fun and adults will not get bored.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

When: already

Well, one cannot help but recall the film about fantastic beasts from the Harry Potter universe. Recently, the tape finally appeared in 4K quality on the main streaming site of Runet.

With a budget of 200 million, the tape was able to collectonly 400 million for the world. Considering that marketing costs are usually not included in the budget, and cinemas take from 30-50% of the money for themselves, the studio probably remained in the red. So there is a good chance that this will be the last film, although JK Rowling said in 2016 that the story implies 5 films. But who knows, maybe they will make a new film, returning the justified Johnny Depp to it. Some critics attribute the failure of the tape to Depp's absence. Like, the picture missed the fans of Jack Sparrow.

Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2

When: July 1

Sounds funny:the second part of the 4th season, but that's the way it is. Netflix carefully approached the filming, apparently deciding not to limit themselves. The first part is 7 episodes of 80-90 minutes each, that is, in fact, it's like 7 full-fledged films.

The show is still surprisingly good. The creators recklessly flirt with the most popular horror films of the 80s. And the long running time allowed us to fully conduct three parallel stories. Along the way, the 4th season knocks out all the questions that have accumulated over the previous series.

The second part of the season is only 2 episodes. Probably, such a move was invented by Netflix to force viewers to pay for 2 months.

"Death List"

When: July 1

This is an action series from Amazon Prime.Chris Pratt (Comic Book Star-Lord) plays a tough Navy SEAL whose crew is killed on a mission. And now he is taking revenge, unraveling the conspiracy of political elites.

Judging by the trailer, a solid action movie with thriller elements.

"Princess"

When: July 1

Hulu decided to make their own version of the fairy tale aboutprincess locked in a high tower. In this version, the princess herself must cut her way out of the tower with fire and sword and save the kingdom from the vengeful prince groom.

The genre is action, fantasy with black humor. The trailer is an adaptation of a scene from Shrek where the princess beats up the robbers. It is not clear what happened, but they plan to play not only on Hulu, but also on Disney+.

"Black bird" / Black bird

When: July 8

The main series of the month on the platform from Apple.

Story based on real eventsconvicted drug dealer Jimmy Keane, who is offered his freedom in exchange for extracting a confession from a suspected serial killer and finding out where his victims are buried.

"Sea Monster" / Sea Beast

When: July 8

Possibly one of the top cartoons of the monthversion of Netflix. This is an adventure cartoon about the times when fabulous monsters lived in uncharted seas. Typically, Netflix cuts corners on its cartoons by hiring cheap foreign CGI studios. But in this case, it might not be so bad. Chris Williams, who made "Moana" and the dog "Lightning", was called as a director. The trailer looks very nice. The kids should definitely love it.

"Resident Evil"

When: the 14 th of July

Before that, only animated films were released on Netflix.series based on the Resident Evil universe. But zombie action is always relevant, which was perfectly proved by last year's game Resident Evil Village, for which the developers are now hard at work sawing additional content, and also launched support for VR. Apparently, Netflix decided to grab a piece of the hype.

The plot is a sci-fi horror drama. In 2036, the world is filled with zombies. Apparently, Milla Jovovich is running around somewhere, and the heroes of the series ... I don’t know what they are doing, because in the trailer they only do that they run somewhere, scream, jump epicly from buildings and suffer other nonsense surrounded by bloodthirsty the dead.

"The Gray Man" / The Gray Man

When: July 22

We know Gray Goose, but about graythere is little information for a person, but, apparently, Netflix really hopes that this film will compete either for an Oscar, or for some other prestigious award. There is no other reason why the service plans to hold a limited screening of the film on July 15 in theaters and only a week later release the tape on the streaming platform.

According to the plot, this is a classic thriller abouta tough CIA agent working under cover so deep that no one knows about him and learning dirty secrets. The film stars Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and the Russo brothers, known to us from a bunch of films for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, acted as directors.

By the looks of it, this is the main Netflix movieonly months, but the whole year. This is, overall, the most expensive film Netflix has ever produced. The tape's budget is a fantastic $200 million. I'm guessing this is one of the last Netflix films of this magnitude. Given that the Russo brothers are accustomed to making multimillion-dollar blockbusters for Disney, these guys are too expensive for streaming by Netflix, which says it plans to rethink budgets. It is obvious that this will not be beaten off by subscriptions.

"Paper Girls" / Paper Girls

When: July 27

Apparently, Amazon decided to make a competitorStranger Things Netflix. Paper Girls is a science fiction story about girls delivering newspapers. On Halloween morning 1988, while at work, they become unwittingly caught up in a conflict between warring factions of time travelers. Journeying between our present, past and future, they encounter future versions of themselves and must now choose to accept or reject their fate.

The series is based on a fairly popular comic book series in the United States. Unfortunately, there is no trailer yet, and the poster is incomprehensible.

Conclusion

July turned out to be a rather modest month in terms ofserials. But there are several good films from those that did not hit our cinemas. Along the way, definitely worth a look "The Gray Man". It might be the first really good Netflix movie (since The Irishman).
