The French company Agronutris will be engaged in the production of worm products and it plans to supply them to supermarkets and restaurants. Mealworms are the larvae of the mealworm beetle (Tenebrio molitor) and are considered pests, so it's very good that they have found useful uses. They are safe for the human body, but do they have any benefit? Also, many people are probably wondering what they taste like. EFSA and Agronutris have already answered these questions. In addition, they made sure that switching to an insect-free diet could help the environment.

When dried, the worms are reported to taste like peanuts. The French company Agronutris wants to manufacture mealworm products on an industrial scale. They will most likely be sold as crispy snacks like chips and croutons. Dried worm powder may also appear in supermarkets, which can be used as an ingredient in dishes.
But it's important to note that some people haveflour worms are not allowed. EFSA officials believe that people who are allergic to shrimp and dust mites may also have an allergic reaction to worms. And this does not depend on the form of the product - both snacks and powders are contraindicated. They appear to contain the same allergens found in shrimp and dust mites.

Worm dish recipe
Agronutris will not be the first manufacturer of insect products. This is also done by Jiminis, which even presented a recipe for mealworm muffins. You will need:
- 3 spoons of cocoa;
- 60 grams of margarine;
- 1 egg;
- a tablespoon of fat-free yogurt;
- 30 grams of flour;
- baking powder;
- 25 grams of mealworm powder.
Cocoa, melted butter, egg, yogurt anda small amount of baking powder must be mixed with water until a thick mass is obtained. Add flour worms to the mixture. Fill the muffins with this composition, you need to send them to the oven for 20 minutes. Then you can brush the tops of the muffins with powdered sugar and garnish with crispy worms.

Agronutris and Jiminis don't just wantearn money. Their representatives are confident that popularizing insect products can save the environment.
