The history of the creation of ZRPK
ZRPK "Pantsir" is designed for nearcovering important facilities - civilian infrastructure, strategic missile silos, long-range air defense systems, etc. The complex can provide protection against all modern means of attack from the air. Moreover, it provides protection against ground or surface threats.
The development of the complex began in the 80s.under the USSR, however, the complex was built only by the mid-90s. The project was headed by the Instrument Design Bureau. For the first time, "Shell" was shown to the public in 1995. But the tests did not begin immediately, but after more than 10 years from the moment the machine was created.
It must be said that since the creation of the complexunderwent several major upgrades. The first upgraded version was introduced in 2007. The complex was put into service five years later - in 2012. In 2015, another modification of the Pantsir-S2 was put into service. The new complex has improved characteristics.
In 2016, the development of the latestTo date, the Pantsir-SM modification, in which a multifunctional aiming station is implemented, in addition, the range has been increased to 40 km.

It should be noted that ZRPK can work ina bunch (up to 6 machines), exchanging data through a digital communication network. At the same time, one vehicle in the battery works not only as a combat vehicle, but also as a command post. The rest of the ZRPK receive target designation from it. The command post itself detects targets using radar, including early warning.

Armament ZRPK "Pantsir"
The ammunition load includes up to 12 57E6-E missiles, andalso 1400 shells. The machine contains four guns that deserve special attention. These are 30 mm 2A38M guns. Many experts call them the best in the world in their class. They are distinguished not only by their high accuracy, but also by their rate of fire - they are capable of firing up to 5,000 shells per minute.
