What didn't Apple show us?

Based on materials The verge

At the recent Far Out event, Apple showed the new iPhone 14, three new Apple models

Watch and next generation AirPods Pro. But today we will not talk about them, but about what Apple has not announced.

Some of the rumors that have beenseveral months leading up to the event were not confirmed, and some of the fans' long-held hopes were dashed. So let's talk about what else can happen in the future - or perhaps turn into a failure.

Mixed Reality Headset

Apple's mixed reality headset has becomea sort of default figure in its activities, while rumors about the device are becoming more detailed. There was not a word about headsets at Far Out this time, and there is nothing surprising in this.

It makes no sense to wait for the announcement of the headset beforeearly next year, so Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts it could hit the market in January 2023. Apple appears to be getting closer to unveiling the device as it filed trademarks for Reality One and Reality Pro, which could hint at the headset's branding.

The device is expected to bea standalone headset with M2 chip capable of working with mixed reality and allowing you to play games. Apple's board of directors reportedly tried it out earlier this year. Let's hope we don't have to wait long to see the device with our own eyes.

$100 markup on iPhone 14 Pro

All Apple fans can breathe a sigh of relief.this occasion. Apple hasn't raised the prices of its Pro and Pro Max models, which Kuo said he expected back in August. Like last year, the Pro will cost $999 and the Pro Max will cost $1,099.

Satellite calls and messages

The stars in the design of the Far Out event couldhint that the company is preparing to launch a revolutionary satellite communication for the iPhone 14. However, the rumors about Apple's plans to support satellite communication and messages, which have been circulating for several months, did not materialize.

But these rumors were well founded. At the very least, Apple announced the ability to send SOS to emergency services using satellite communications on the iPhone 14. Last year, the same rumors circulated about the appearance of this feature for the iPhone 13, and now it is finally implemented. With carriers such as T-Mobile looking to develop satellite messaging, Apple may eventually jump into the game and these SOS messages may just be the first step.

It's funny that Huawei apparently thoughtthat Apple is planning to make some big announcements related to satellite communications, since the day before the event, it announced support for satellite communications on its Mate series devices.

Temperature detection feature in Watch Series 8

Earlier rumors indicated that Apple would introducea new temperature feature in the Watch Series 8. And although Apple has added two new temperature sensors to its device, they serve for advanced tracking of the female cycle. Perhaps Apple could somehow expand the functionality in the future to give alerts if the wearer of the watch develops a fever. It's entirely possible that the heat detection feature simply didn't pass the internal testing that Apple writer Mark Gurman warned about as the reason that prevented the temperature sensing feature from appearing earlier in the year.

New iPhone mini

Tragedy for lovers of small phones, inthe iPhone 14 line does not have a new mini model. The latest version of the Apple mini (maybe really the last one) came out with the iPhone 13 last year. The device is equipped with a 5.4-inch display, which is not suitable for those who prefer a larger screen, but thanks to its compactness, this phone fits perfectly in your pocket.

However, one cannot completely exclude the occurrence ofone mini. Apple has brought back the iPhone Plus for the first time since 2018. Perhaps if the company sees demand for a smaller device in the future (maybe because more people are looking to foldable phones for compactness) it will bring it back.

Lossless audio for the new AirPods Pro

The device that Apple CEO Tim Cook calls"the most advanced AirPods", still equipped with Bluetooth. While the second-generation AirPods Pro received some notable upgrades, including improved noise cancellation and spatial audio, they didn't add support for lossless audio, which should have greatly improved audio quality. Well, at least Apple has added Bluetooth 5.3. This version of Bluetooth uses the new LC3 audio codec for more efficient audio transmission, resulting in better sound through headphones.

USB-C port for iPhone

Okay, this sounds too bold, but dream somethingcan? With Europe (and even Brazil) putting pressure on Apple to drop its own Lightning port, you can expect the company to introduce a USB-C port on its devices relatively soon. Apple is reportedly testing iPhones with USB-C right now, but Kuo says that won't happen until the second half of 2023.

Conclusion

The presented devices are not the last for Apple this year. The company is expected to expand its Mac and iPad lineups at an event in October.

There we will most likely see the new iPad Pro withM2 chip, as well as an entry-level iPad with a redesigned design. On the Mac side, Apple is rumored to be announcing three new M2-powered computers: the Mac Mini, Mac Pro, and MacBook Pro. Apple is also expected to release iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura around the same time.
