# video | What will SpaceX do in 2020?

American entrepreneur Elon Musk foundedSpaceX company back in 2002 with the goal of space exploration and the settlement of Mars. However, for almost 18 years of the organization’s existence, colonizers have not yet appeared on the Red Planet. Moreover, at the moment, SpaceX still cannot boast of the successful delivery of astronauts aboard the International Space Station, because in 2019 it was able to deliver only an unmanned spacecraft to the ISS. But, according to Elon Musk, in 2020 everything will change. As part of the SpaceX Demo-2 space mission, the company will finally make a manned flight to the ISS, and from that moment on, the United States will at least get rid of the need to send its astronauts on Russian Soyuz launch vehicles.

About how the first one will gothe manned flight of the Crew Dragon spaceship on the ISS, said the American edition of Business Insider. Referring to the video published on the SpaceX YouTube channel, journalists shared that the astronauts Bob Benken and Doug Hurley will be the first passengers on the ship. The video shows how two pilots climb aboard Crew Dragon at Cape Canaveral in Florida and fly with a Falcon 9 booster rocket to a 400-kilometer height, on which the International Space Station is located.

Docking SpaceX Crew Dragon ship with the International Space Station

Former Presidential Plenipotentiary EnvoySergei Tsyplyaev has already called Ilon Mask a great threat to the Russian economy. According to him, if earlier Russia carried out up to 50% of commercial missile launches, then in the future we risk fulfilling only 20-25% of orders. Thanks to the relatively cheap and reusable missiles, SpaceX will eventually be able to leave Russia with only 10% of orders, which will undoubtedly affect the country's economy.

Spaceship CST-100 Starliner

It is worth recalling that the mission of Crew Dragon Demo-2will be carried out under the NASA program called the Commercial Crew Program. Its goal is to resume deliveries of goods and passengers to the International Space Station in American missiles from local space centers. Boeing is also participating in this program with its CST-100 Starliner spacecraft. At the end of 2019, his test flight to the space station took place, but he could not dock to it.

You can read about the problems that arose with the Boeing CST-100 Starliner spacecraft in our special article.

Given the technical problems of Boeing,it can be assumed that SpaceX Crew Dragon will be the first American ship to deliver astronauts to the International Space Station in the last decade. Unfortunately, the date of the Demo-2 manned mission is still a secret. But it is known that already in early January, SpaceX will test the ship’s launch system.
