# video | A new world record for the economy of cars

Delsbo competition held in Sweden every yearElectric, during which students are trying to develop a vehicle that consumes the minimum amount of energy. To participate in the competition, they are required to assemble a rail vehicle with batteries, and to win - to drive a path of 3.36 kilometers in length and maintain the maximum amount of charge. A team of students from the Dalarn Institute and Chalmers Technical University has already become a legend because it has been ranked first for the fourth year in a row.

In 2016, the team broke the world recordenergy efficiency with your Eximus 1 rail car with a 500-watt electric motor. It was made of aluminum and weighed only 100 kilograms, so it took only 0.84 watt-hours per kilometer to transport one passenger weighing about 50 kilograms. The car had only one big minus - it took her as much as 20 minutes to overcome more than three kilometers.

The most economical car

A team of students improved the design.cars every year, and in 2019 came to the competition with the fourth version called Eximus IV. This time, beginner engineers concentrated on the aerodynamic properties of their rail vehicles. In particular, they used ultra-light aviation materials and equipped the car with new engine and wheels, and then conducted tests inside the wind tunnel.

Eximus IV machine still can notboast high speed and can be overtaken even by bike. However, this time the device showed improved energy efficiency - it took only 0.603 watt-hours of energy to transport one person per kilometer distance. According to representatives of Delsbo Electric, this means that you can overcome the distance of 75 kilometers on the energy contained in one tablespoon of gasoline.

Other finalists of Delsbo Electric 2019

Second place in the competition took Acus V withenergy efficiency 1.14 watt-hour - it was created by students of the Luleå University of Technology. The third finalist was Rail S.N.A.I.L. V.3 from Linköping University - at every kilometer it consumes 1.27 watt-hour of energy. Photos of vehicles can be viewed below.

In 2020, the Rolls-Royce company intends to submit an aircraft that accelerates to 480 kilometers per hour - it will be able to break the record for the Siemens Extra 330LE, which develops 337.5 km speed.
