Vaccinated people spread COVID-19 in the same way as non-vaccinated people

COVID-19 vaccines significantly reducerisk of severe disease and death. However, since the moment of their appearance, disputes periodically arise about the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus by vaccinated people. As you know, vaccines do not protect 100% against infection. At the same time, in many countries for vaccinated people are provided for relaxation of restrictive measures - they are allowed to travel in public transport, access to institutions that are closed to the unvaccinated, etc. is open. But recently, more and more data have been received from doctors and scientists that vaccinated people spread the infection in the same way as unvaccinated people. To find out how much this information corresponds to reality, American scientists conducted an experiment in one of the Texas prisons.

Research by scientists shows that vaccination does not interfere with the spread of cornavirus

How the coronavirus spreads among those vaccinated

Since mid-2021, the planet has becomethe most dangerous variant of the Delta coronavirus is spreading. Including he caused a wave of diseases in the United States. At the same time, scientists began to pay attention to the fact that outbreaks of disease occurred in crowded collectives both among unvaccinated people and those who received two doses of the vaccine. In particular, a similar situation was noted in a federal prison in Texas, where the total number of infections was 74%.

Coronavirus risk remains high after vaccination

Among the unvaccinated prisoners, the number ofinfections accounted for 93%, and among those vaccinated - 70%. To find out the degree of infectiousness of patients of both groups, that is, vaccinated and unvaccinated people, experts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with the support of the US Federal Bureau of Prisons, conducted a study, the details of which can be found on the medRxiv preprint service.

The authors of the work took swabs from the nose and middlenasal concha. These areas of the body were not chosen for taking smears with ease, since it is from the nasopharynx that when coughing, sneezing and talking, viruses fly into the surrounding space and infect healthy people. To find out how long viruses live on mucous membranes in vaccinated and unvaccinated people, tests were performed daily.

Coronavirus lives on the mucous membrane of vaccinated and unvaccinated people for an equally long time

95 people, infected, agreed to donate smearsthe SARS-CoV-2 virus. Among the volunteers, 78 people, that is, 82%, were fully vaccinated. Another 15 people, that is, 16% of the participants in the experiment, were not vaccinated. One person was partially vaccinated. Most of the participants in the experiment were vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine - about 73 percent, also 18 percent of those vaccinated received the Moderna vaccine, and another 9 percent received the Janssen vaccine.

The test results showed that viruses onthe mucous membrane live for 13 days in both vaccinated and those who have not been vaccinated. The result was distinguished only in those who had previously been ill with coronavirus - their virus in the nasopharynx lived for no more than 10 days. It didn’t matter whether they were vaccinated or not.

Further research showed that nothe statistical difference in the degree of infectiousness between vaccinated patients and those who did not receive any vaccinations. Thus, the results of the study showed that vaccination does not affect the spread of the virus. The only thing is that vaccinated people are still slightly less likely to get infected. In this study, the difference was 23 percent.

Using QR codes and certificates does not make sense, as vaccinated people can spread coronavirus in the same way as non-vaccinated people.

QR Code Implementation Won't Stop Coronavirus Pandemic?

Recently, more and more widespreadreceive QR codes that enable states to distinguish between vaccinated and unvaccinated citizens. As I said above, this is done to ease the restrictions on people who have received two vaccines. However, this study, like several others, shows that such a division of society is practically meaningless. In particular, this information is confirmed by The Lancet magazine.

In Massachusetts in July of this year, 469 new cases of infection were recorded. At the same time, 346 cases, that is, 74 percent, occurred in people who received two vaccines.

Restrictive measures for all people should be the same

So to stop the pandemic, restrictive measures are necessary for absolutely everyone, regardless of the presence or absence of vaccination. The task of vaccination is reduced only to reducing the mortality rate. True, the new Omicron coronavirus strain, as I said earlier, can generally nullify the entire positive effect of vaccinations. In this case, you will have to wait for new vaccines to appear and be vaccinated again.
