At the end of last year, Unihertz introduced a new rugged smartphone with the most capacious battery among
The gadget received a 22,000 mAh battery!Yes, I did not make a mistake in the zeros. Exactly so much. In fact, this is a portable PowerBank with a built-in smartphone. Looking ahead, I must say that I had to check the autonomy of this device for two weeks. The fact is that during normal operation, the Tank can work for 6-8 days. And the video plays without stopping at maximum brightness for almost 50 hours!
In addition, the most powerfulLED system. I'm not afraid of this word - a spotlight that can illuminate any objects at a distance of up to 10 meters. Moreover, this "lantern" can be used in conjunction with shooting photos and videos.
The Tank smartphone is protected to the maximum - IP68/IP69K MIL-STD-810H. Well, reinforced with metal and durable plastic with rubber. Comes with thick glass screen.
So that you do not get bored with the apparatus, insideprovided SoC MediaTek Helio G99, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory, 108 MP main and 32 MP front cameras, 20 MP night camera with infrared illumination.
It is clear that a smartphone is not for everyone. Here I see an audience that often and for a long time goes to travel through the mountains, rivers and forests. Taking Unihertz Tank with them, such people will get at least a week of battery life with the gadget: communication, GPS, powering other devices with energy, a bright spotlight, night black-and-white or color shooting of photos and videos. That is, Tank is a PowerBank plus a fairly powerful smartphone with a bunch of important chips for hiking.
The cost of Unihertz Tank starts from about 25,000 rubles on AliExpress. It seems to me that for such money a smartphone is a unique thing!

Appearance
The Unihertz Tank looks like a classicsecure smartphone. Only in this case, they took two such smartphones and blinded them together. It turned out a huge gadget with a thickness of 2.5 cm! And such a miracle weighs as much as 560 grams along with a SIM card
Wearing such a device is extremely difficult. I carried it in a backpack, because in other places it either pulls pockets or does not fit.
The phone is made neatly, quite stylishly and with high quality. The front is completely flat, protected by Panda Glass MN228, whatever that means. There are small borders.
The bottom and top parts are reinforced with rubber inserts. Left and right - metal.
On the reverse side is a large yellow spotlight. The cover is made of metal and rubber. At the bottom there is a cutout for a carabiner. The panel is held on by 14 torx screws.
In general, the smartphone looks cool, well, the assembly is as decent as possible.
This machine is protected by IP68/IP69K MIL-STD-810H. He is not afraid of vibration, or sudden temperature changes, or water, or immersion in it.
On the front panel:
- Selfie camera.
- Light and proximity sensors.
- Speaker. Sounds quite loud and clear.
Behind the rubber plug:
- 3.5 mm headphone audio output.
- USB-C Any connector is suitable, not necessarily long.
Bottom right:
- Microphone. In order for the interlocutor to hear you well, you need to speak louder. All because of the powerful IP69K protection.
On right:
- Power button. Small, flat, easy to handle. Built-in fingerprint scanner.
- Two separate volume buttons. Even more than a power button. Notches are applied so that the finger does not slip.
Left:
- Red button with notches. By default, it is responsible for creating screenshots and activating the LED backlight.
- A flat, slightly recessed button to turn the spotlight on or off. It is necessary to press and hold the button for about three seconds.
On the one hand, there are too many buttons. On the other hand, they will definitely work if water gets on the smartphone. Or even underwater. This I mean that the touch touch in a wet environment works out badly.
Above:
- IR transmitter.
- SIM card tray. It comes out with your fingers, no paperclip needed. The decision is correct: you never know in what conditions you find yourself with a phone, but you need to change the SIM card.
On the back side:
- Three cameras.
- LED flash torch.
- Two IR LEDs.
- Searchlight 1200 lm. Shines up to 10 meters accurately. Very bright, with a wide coverage angle.
- Speaker. It is said to put out 1.5 watts.
Screen
This is very short, since this is a simple matrix with a diagonal of 6.81 inches, IPS, 1080 × 2340 pixels and with a 60 Hz refresh.
The maximum brightness of the matrix backlight in manual mode is 450 nits, automatic brightness can give up to 500 nits. For IPS, in general, the norm. Moreover, this is not a flagship.
The picture quality made me happy. The viewing angles are maximum, but the contrast is lost under the slopes. Typical for any IPS matrix.
There is no ripple coefficient, which means, in simple terms, that there is no PWM.
There is no AOD mode, of course.
In the screen settings, you can change the shape of the icons on the desktop.

Autonomy 22,000 mAh battery
It seems to me that this is the most important point in this review. I don’t know about you, but I would read the material if only to find out how long a smartphone with a 22,000 mAh battery lasts.
YouTube channel PBKreviews
In fact, inside the Unihertz Tank there arethree batteries, which are dressed in a metal case. One battery is under the screen, the other two are on the back of the device. Actually, that's why the case is so thick.
Data:
- Playing YouTube at the maximum brightness of the matrix backlight: 40 hours.
- Work with the device (games, programs, notifications, calls): up to 35 hours.
- Games like Marvel Contest of Champions: Up to 25 hours.
The kit includes a 66W charger. This is a fairly powerful charger among similar smartphones. Usually at best it is 30-45 watts.
This power adapter charges the battery up to 100% in 1 hour and 40 minutes.
I also tried a 33W adapter. He charged the smartphone in 2 hours and 45 minutes. Batteries get from 0 to 10% in 15 minutes, from 20 to 50% in 1 hour.
The device works like a PowerBank. The output is approximately 5V / 0.5A. A little.
Connection
The smartphone supports 4G with bands 1-5, 7, 8, 12,13, 17-20, 25, 26, 28, 34, 38-41, 66. Bands 2, 3, 5, 8 are responsible for 3G. And for 2G - frequencies of 800 and 1900 Hz. Unfortunately, there is no frequency aggregation. The call quality is normal, nothing remarkable.
The device works with GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou,Galileo. Positioning is very cool: it instantly determines the coordinates with an accuracy of 1 meter (sees up to 60 satellites, and 40 are in operation). NFC chip available (SberPay works).
The Bluetooth network has been upgraded to version 5.3, Wi-Fi is ac standard here.
Cameras
The smartphone was equipped with four cameras:
- Front: Samsung ISOCELL GD1 at 32 MP, sensor size 1/2.80″, aperture f/2.0.
- Primary: Samsung ISOCELL HM2 at 108 MP, sensor size 1/1.52″, aperture f/1.8.
- Night vision: Sony IMX350 at 20 MP, sensor size 1/2.78″, aperture f/2.6.
- Macro: OmniVision OV2680 at 2 MP, sensor size 1/5.00″. Believe it or not, it's from 2013! Once placed as a front module.
During the day, selfies can be taken in excellent quality. I liked the sharpness and details. Correctly conveys skin tone. But with a lack of lighting, as they say, “put out the light”: wild digital noise comes out.
The main camera shoots nothing like that. There is almost no use from a 108 MP module, because it is not enough to put it in a gadget, you also need to write high-quality software for it. Therefore, during the day you will have more or less normal pictures, but by the evening noise will appear again, detail will decrease. But the color is true.
The night vision camera does its jobthe task is good: at night the picture is definitely better than on the main module. True, the picture is black and white. IR illumination "beats" at a distance of up to five meters. In general, a useful thing in certain situations.
Macro camera here to the heap. She doesn't make any sense either. Shoots with indistinct fixed focus.
Video Tank writes in resolution up to 2560x1440pixels on the main sensor. You cannot select a frame rate. The default is 30 fps. IR camera recording and selfies - 1080p. The video quality is average, I didn't like it very much.
Total: for such a device, the cameras are quite normal, for 25,000 rubles you can hardly come up with something better.
Examples of photos and videos:
- Original photos (zip, 69 MB)
- Sample video (MP4, 177 MB)
- Sample video (MP4, 5 MB)
- Sample video (MP4, 290 MB)
- Sample video (MP4, 25 MB)
Memory, processor and performance
The Unihertz Tank smartphone offers customersonly one version of the device - 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory. It seems to me that it was necessary to put a slot for a memory card. There are plenty of places, positioning - for hiking and other things. So a lot of memory is needed. It is a pity that they did not give a slot for microSD.
The speed of RAM - 4300 MB / s - is extremely weak, but predictable. Drive speed - 890/640 MB / s. I can't even believe it - very high speed.
The SoC is MediaTek Helio G99.This is a fairly modern chip, announced in May 2022. Built on 6 nm process technology, has two clusters of 8 cores: 2 x Cortex-A76 2200 MHz, 6 x Cortex-A55 2000 MHz.

In the test, Antutu scores just under 400,000 points. The result is below average, considering that the flagships of 2023 score over 1,200,000 points in Antutu.
Throttling is essentially non-existent. Look at the graph that was built within 30 minutes.
Since the case is metal inside, andthere is a lot of “iron” on top, then the heat dissipation is excellent. The smartphone heats up to a maximum of 43 degrees Celsius. And that in very difficult tasks. Area - the lower part of the front panel.
operating system
The smartphone runs on Google Android 12.
The device works very quickly, without brakes and microlags.
The system is naked. There are no extra programs inside, except for "Tools". They collected various compasses, sound level meters, height measurements, pedometers and so on. Standard program in such gadgets.
YouTube channel PBKreviews
There is also a "Street Lamp".At startup, it warns us to take care of our eyes. There is an SOS mode, a strobe. You can select three levels of brightness and specify the duration of the glow. The spotlight heats up to 42 degrees Celsius.
About sound
A fairly large 1.5 W speaker is used to output music and speakerphone. It is very loud, especially if you decide to use the siren sounds.
YouTube channel PBKreviews
It would seem a thing in itself, but not so long ago we wereshocked by the tragedy in Turkey and Syria. If a person under the rubble had a smartphone like Unihertz Tank, then he would be able to turn on the siren. She would squeak for days to indicate her location. Rescue would be easier.
Another use is as a ringtone for a hearing impaired person. It is clear that it is better to use some kind of headset, but a loud speaker is always useful.
The smartphone has a 3.5 mm jack. Commendable. You can also listen to music via Bluetooth. Moreover, the device supports aptX / aptXHD and even LDAC.
Impression
Once again it is worth saying that the Unihertz Tank is notfor all. The application is narrowly focused: hiking in the mountains and forests, rafting on rivers, and so on. You leave civilization far and for a long time. In this case, you will still need a PowerBank and some kind of shock and water resistant smartphone.
So Tank combines these parameters in itself. The operating time is really great: 100% battery can last you for several weeks of use, provided that you periodically pause between active work with gadgets. Yes, even if you do not save the battery, turn on the screen brightness to the maximum, insert a SIM card, then the "Tank" will last for 30-40 hours.
Smartphone stuffing is decent. The processor is modern, the performance is vigorous, the memory is fast and there is a lot of it. Too bad there's no microSD card slot.
A bright spotlight will also come in handy. It can be used in both photos and videos. In addition, there is night vision thanks to two powerful IR LEDs.
Of the minuses, as I have said more than once - the lack of a microSD card! And I would also remove the buttons on the left, they really interfere with using the phone.
It seems to me that for 25,000 - 30,000 rubles, the Unihertz Tank is a unique, albeit a niche product. I recommend taking a look.
Competitors:
- Oukitel WP19. The price is up to about 30,000 rubles. 21000 mAh battery, 33 W power adapter, 8/256 GB memory, Helio G95 processor.
- Doogee S89 Pro. The price is around 24,000 rubles. 12000 mAh battery, 65 W power adapter, 8/256 GB memory, Helio P90 processor.
- Ulefone Power Armor 13. The price is about 26,000 rubles. 13200 mAh battery, 33 W power adapter, 8/256 GB memory, Helio G95 processor.
