Ulefone Armor 9E and Armor 9 - about smartphones, endoscopes and thermal cameras

And here they are. The twin smartphones Ulefone Armor 9 and Ulefone Armor 9E. Armor 9 is not new, it was announced back in July. Alas, then I missed it, I didn't write the news. But now, with the arrival of Armor 9E, there is a good reason to tell you about both of them. Fortunately, they deserve it.

Left Armor 9, Right Armor 9E

Protected smartphones-armored vehicles with a fairly solid filling and a couple of curious chips. Let's start with the chips.

1. Endoscope. You can buy it directly with your smartphone. An endoscope is a camera on a cable that can be tucked somewhere in a secret place (for example, under a cabinet). And right on your smartphone to see what is going on under the closet. Do not confuse only with medical endoscopes. Well, the essence is the same, but I'm not sure that the complete endoscope, even if it is waterproof, is suitable for such an application.

My first reaction when I learned about the smartphonewith an endoscope, I was delighted. Damn, they're geniuses! How many times in our lives have we moved the sofas and wardrobes to no purpose, trying to find a trifle that has flown away incomprehensibly. When the delight passed, a reasonable question arose. Are there endoscopes that can be connected to arbitrary smartphones? Answer. There are, of course. The price of the issue is a few dollars ...

2. Thermal chamber. Only Ulefone Armor 9 has it. And, apparently, this is the only difference between Armor 9 and Armor 9E. The first has a thermal camera, the second has a conventional wide-angle module instead.

Thermal camera resolution is not reported. Most likely, standard 80x60 dots, which are “smeared” on the contour image, which is obtained with a more or less conventional camera.

Armor 9

That's all with interesting tricks. Now, briefly about the rest of the characteristics of smartphones.

Protection. Standard words have been spoken about protection against water and dust according to the class IP68 and even IP69K. As usual, compliance with a number of tests of the MIL-STD-810G standard is declared - low pressure, solar radiation, humidity, acid exposure. Apparently, there is also some anti-shock, but it is hardly worth abusing it.

Iron. The memory is fine. 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of constant, support for memory cards is also there. Iron is the top MediaTek. Alas, two years ago, MediaTek Helio P90. At present, this is only an average level (a little over two hundred thousand AnTuTu points), and even quite eager for electricity.

However, you can not save much electricity, the battery is huge. 6600 mAh. 18W fast charging is officially announced for Armor 9. Armor 9E either doesn't have it, or they forgot to mention it.

Huge battery, shockproof housing. To say that smartphones are rather big is to say nothing. Armor 9 weighs 320 grams. There is no information about Armor 9E, but the difference is unlikely to be great.

Front camera 8 MP, there are no questions. Four rear cameras. Armor 9E has 64 + 8 + 2 + 2 MP (main camera Samsung GW1, wide-angle, plus two auxiliary ones, the purpose of which is not specified). The Armor 9 has the same 64MP main camera. One of the auxiliary cameras (the depth sensor, apparently) has also survived. And instead of the other two cameras, a thermal camera plus a 5MP camera is installed, which forms an outline image for the thermal camera.

Screen. IPS-matrix 6.3 ″, high resolution - 1080 × 2340 (409 ppi).

From pleasant little things. There is an NFC module, there is a fingerprint scanner (side). All required LTE bands are supported. Android is fresh, there is a gyroscope. In short, smartphones are very solid in terms of filling.

Price. Both smartphones have already appeared on Aliexpress. Oddly enough, right now Ulefone Armor 9E for some reason costs a little more. They want $ 499.99 (₽37,400) for it if you buy only the smartphone itself and $ 549.99 (₽41200) if you ask to add an endoscope to your smartphone.

Ulefone Armor 9, respectively, is a little cheaper. $ 479.99 (₽35,900) for the smartphone itself and $ 519.99 (₽38,900) if taken with an endoscope.

And, you know, I'll probably buy myself an endoscope. Only hardly bundled with a smartphone.
