The authorities of the United Arab Emirates announced the revival of the flying taxi program. Their launch is scheduled for 2026.
It is expected that two launch pads forflying taxis will be equipped near the world's busiest international airport, located in Dubai. It is assumed that the cost of a flight on such transport will be at least 30% higher than the fare in a regular taxi.
The UAE’s partner in this matter will be Joby Aviation, whose prototype flying taxi has demonstrated a flight range of more than 240 km without recharging and a top speed of 320 km/h.
Recall that earlier in November 2022, plans were already announced to launch electric taxis with vertical takeoff and landing in Abu Dhabi.
