Toshiba Electronics Europe Announcesrelease of new models of helium-filled hard drives of the N300 NAS and X300 Performance series with a capacity of 16 TB. The capacity of 16 terabyte hard drives is 14% higher than the capacity of the models by 14 TB. In addition, the buffer capacity in 16 TB models is 512 MB, which is twice as much as in 14 TB drives.
To create 16 terabyte series hard drivesThe N300 and X300 used a 9-disk helium-filled design that provides higher information density with lower power consumption. Toshiba Group's laser welding technology and housing design ensure reliable helium retention inside a standard 3.5-inch drive.
“For the Toshiba 16 TB N300 and X300 series, weimproved the helium-filled enclosure design to improve energy efficiency with higher storage capacities and densities, ”said Larry Martinez-Palomo, CEO of Toshiba Electronics Europe’s hard drive division. “Toshiba has set itself the task of releasing hard drives up to 16 TB in size to meet the growing data storage needs for high-performance systems, gaming systems, as well as company servers. This will allow gamers and users of NAS solutions to efficiently store large amounts of information. ”
The N300 Series has a 3-year limited warranty, while the X300 Series has a 2-year limited warranty. The 16 TB N300 and X300 will be available in the fourth quarter of 2019.
