Custom iPhone with a Type-C connector is no longer availablesurprise, but an engineer from South Korea went even further. He not only added a modern connector to his "apple" gadget, but also retained the original Lightning, showing the modification process in an entertaining video format.

As an "experimental" enthusiast usedthe base model of the iPhone 12. Having disassembled the smartphone, he left the proprietary connector in place, cutting the USB Type-C connector with a homemade board into the speaker grill area. The acoustic chamber of the latter had to be greatly reduced to fit next to the new port, but, according to the blogger, this element retained its functionality.

The practical value of such a modification looksdoubtful. However, as one of the commentators on Reddit noted, the advantage of the “two-port” design was the ability to use wired headphones and simultaneously charge the gadget. Owners of Apple smartphones have not had this option since 2016 - starting with the iPhone 7, they are produced without a 3.5 mm audio jack.
