The video shows the dynamics of the development of the Milky Way in the next 400,000 years

Forecast of changes in the position of stars in the Milky Waysuggested by astronomers from the European Space Agency (ESA). Computer simulations were carried out for a limited number of stars, the speed of which is precisely known to scientists. The video of the travel of the star systems is presented on Youtube. Trajectory animations are shown for 40,000 stars within 100 parsecs (326 light years) of the Sun. The positions of the stars were fixed at intervals of 80 thousand years.

The video was created based on these photosmade by the Gaia space observatory and published in December 2019. Based on the images, scientists obtained information about the movement of 1.8 billion space objects.

When drawing up a computer model, scientistswere able to predict the motion of the Milky Way stars for the next 1.6 billion years. However, in the demo, the stars' journey ends 400,000 years later. This is done so as not to overload the picture with animation effects of object movement traces.

The final frames of the forecast by ESA scientists showthat the stars are supposedly gathered on the right side of the screen, while very few objects remain on the left side. However, in the explanation for the video, this effect is manifested due to the movement of the solar system itself, moving in relation to the rest of the stars of the Milky Way.
