Exotic aircraft introducedChinese developers at China Helicopter Exposition, China’s largest helicopter exhibition. Presented in the form of a flying saucer, a combat helicopter received the big name “Great White Shark”. In view of the fact that such a design was already developed by other countries several decades ago and did not receive development, experts are skeptical about the prospects of the “White Aul” combat. Nevertheless, the Chinese, according to unverified data, have already begun to create flying prototype helicopters.


The development of the Great White Shark was carried outChina State Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC). Designers used the concept of a hybrid wing (BWB) erasing the boundary between the wing and the body of a flying object. The developers position the helicopter as "a high-speed structure designed to participate in the hostilities of the digital era." First of all, the helicopter should surpass such competitors as the American AH-64 Apache, CH-53 Sea Stallion and the Russian Ka-52, Mi-26.


The technical parameters of the "Shark" are still unknown,in addition, the helicopter has unusual blades, and the rotor diameter is about 5 meters. According to the drawings, we can also conclude that two people control the aircraft. Concept art also indicates that armaments can consist of a 20-mm automatic gun, as well as high-precision air-to-ground munitions and air-to-air missiles. According to unofficial information, “Shark” will be able to reach speeds of up to 650 km / h.


It should be noted that the skepticism of specialistsregarding the future of this project is based on an unsuccessful attempt to implement the concept of a flying saucer with a rotary engine by American designers in the 60s of the last century. The result of the Avrocar project showed that such a form factor of a flying object is very difficult to manage. Then the project was closed due to lack of prospects.
