During the Global Mobile Broadband Forum, GSMA Chief Technology Officer Alex Sinclair

stated that, according to forecasts, the next generationupgraded 5.5G communications systems will be launched commercially in 2024. 5.5G communication systems are an organic development of existing 5G communication systems. The period of change of communication generations takes an average of 10 years, and after 5 years, the period of modernization of existing systems to a higher level begins. Thus, 5.5G systems will be able to provide speeds up to 10 times faster than current 5G results. The downlink rate will be at 10 Gbps. This will expand the use of the metaverse at scale and create new opportunities for the use of connected IoT devices through a significant increase in the number of connections.
