The new USB4 standard gets speeds up to 40 Gbps

Announced in the spring of 2019 by USBImplementers Forum, the fourth version of the specification of the most popular USB interface, as promised, is presented in the final version. The new USB4-based connection will be able to double the data transfer rate for cable connection compared to USB 3.2, which theoretically will be about 40 Gb / s.

After the official announcement of the release of a newUSB4 standard can be expected that by the beginning of 2020, devices supporting this technology will enter the market. It is noteworthy that the USB4 specification will continue to support devices equipped with the USB 3.2 and USB 2.0 standard, but without the ability to use high data transfer speeds. For gadgets not equipped with USB-C connectors, an adapter is required.

The USB4 specification will provide HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.2 connectivity for transferring video to two 4K monitors or one with 5 Intel Core chips, which incorporate Thunderbolt 3 controllers.
