The mysterious virus from China is now in Japan and Thailand. Experts do not understand how it is distributed

Last week we told you about the outbreaka mysterious virus in China that is similar in symptoms to Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), better known as SARS. At the moment, researchers have determined that the new virus is a type of coronavirus, which also includes SARS and MERS. WHO experts were very concerned about the new outbreak in Wuhan, and it turned out not in vain - experts reported two cases outside the country - in Thailand and Japan. However, exactly how the virus spreads remains unknown.

Currently, researchers cannot determine how the virus is transmitted from person to person.

According to ScienceAlert, the MinistryJapan's health service reported that the patient was hospitalized on January 10, four days after returning from Wuhan (China) to Japan. The patient complained of an enduring fever. Test results confirmed that he was infected with a new virus. Recall that a new coronavirus killed one person, while 41 people were infected in Wuhan. The Ministry of Health of Japan intends to collaborate with the World Health Organization, as well as to continue research.

Vaccine for SARS does not exist today

In the past, SARS and MERS outbreaks killed 349people in China and 299 people in Hong Kong. Today, Wuhan authorities said the center of the outbreak is the seafood market, which was closed on January 1. However, Japanese doctors claim that the patient did not visit the market, but may have been in contact with the infected while in the Middle Kingdom.

Will the virus spread across the planet?

Ministry of Health Representative AgeeHinoshita told reporters that the risk of spreading the disease is considered low, while carefully checking everyone who has been in close contact with him. Moreover, the patient’s condition is not critical and he is recovering at home. Local media reported that the patient is a 30-year-old Chinese citizen who lives in Kanagawa, southwest of Tokyo.

In Hong Kong, several dozen people were hospitalized with similar symptoms, but the new virus has not been confirmed.

Japanese Ministry of Health Callspeople who experience symptoms such as coughing and fever, wear protective masks and “visit the facility quickly”. It is not yet clear whether this virus can be transmitted from person to person, however, it is likely that the virus has already spread in the family. As for the case in Thailand, the patient is in a stable condition. She also claims that she did not visit the seafood market in Wuhan. Nevertheless, WHO experts believe that the virus can be transmitted from person to person to a limited extent, especially among families that are in close contact with each other.

Thus, we should not be afraidoutbreaks of a new virus. Nevertheless, if in the near future you are going on a trip to China, then a reasonable act would be to refuse to visit Wuhan. Otherwise, it is hoped that in the very near future, scientists will be able to develop a vaccine against a dangerous family of coronaviruses.
