The global video game market is set to contract in 2022

According to the forecasts of the British company Ampere Analysis, this year will be the first year after 2015 when

contraction of the video game market. It is expected to decline by 1.2% to $188 billion after the market jumped 26% between 2020 and 2021 amid a significant increase in interest in games during the coronavirus pandemic. After the end of the pandemic and the lifting of restrictions, interest in games began to decline. Also among the reasons why the video game market may shrink is inflation, due to which consumers in many countries reduce their spending, including on video games. Another reason may be the consequences of the conflict in Ukraine, as the Russian market has been a steady tenth in terms of spending on video games in the world, but by the end of this year it may fall to 14th place with revenues of $1.2 billion per year.
