The model with a diagonal of 13.5 inches receives a display with a resolution of 2256x1504, and the older version with a 15-inch screen - a resolution of 2496 × 1664 pixels. The surface of the bezel around the keyboard of the 13.5 "Surface Laptop 4 is finished with Alcantara, while the Surface Laptop 4 with a 15" screen is made of aluminum.

For Surface Laptop 4 computer hardwaremany modification options are provided. Laptops are being launched with a six-core Ryzen 5 4680U processor, an eight-core Ryzen 7 4980U chip, or an Intel Core i5-1135G7 or Core i7-1185G7 quad-core chip. For AMD processors, graphics are handled by the Radeon Microsoft Surface Edition cards, and for Intel, by the Iris Xe GPU.

Both Surface Laptop 4 models have an operational8 LPDDR4X (3733 MHz) memory; 16 and 32 GB. For the older model with a 15-inch screen, running on an AMD processor, slower DDR4 memory (2400 MHz) is used.

M.2 NVMe is represented by 256 volumes; 512 GB and 1 TB. Permanent drives are available and must be changed only at Microsoft authorized service centers to ensure that the warranty is maintained.

The new models have USB 3.1 Type-C, USB Type-A and 3.5mm headphone jacks. There is also a Surface Connect magnetic charging port, but Thunderbolt 4 is still not installed.

The younger model Surface Laptop 4 has a declaredbattery life 19 hours for models powered by AMD Ryzen 5 processor and up to 17 hours - on Intel Core i5 processor. A top-end laptop with a 15-inch screen and a Ryzen 7 processor can work offline for up to 17.5 hours, and based on Intel Core i7 - up to 16.5 hours.
