The first Martian astronauts must be ready to die - Elon Musk (video)

The eccentric and optimistic billionaire ElonMusk in another interview on April 22 with the founder of the innovation fund X Prize Foundation Peter Diamandis expressed an unusual pessimistic assumption for him. According to the head of SpaceX, there will be many casualties among the first explorers of Mars, and the "Martian pioneers" must know about this in advance.

In a lengthy interview with Diamandis, made publicon the YouTube channel XPRIZE, Elon Musk spoke about the difficulties the researchers will face, pointed out the lack of comfort during the flight, and even the risk of death for some astronauts.

Musk noted that the first expeditions will take place incramped conditions, people will experience numerous inconveniences, food will be monotonous, without any special culinary delights. At the same time, astronauts must understand that some of them may never return to Earth and die during the expedition.

At the first stage of Mars exploration, there is a high probabilitydeath of researchers, Elon Musk believes. Due to the high risks, the crews of the first Martian expeditions will be selected exclusively from volunteers who are ready to make "a magnificent journey that provides earthlings with an amazing experience." When asked about the thousands of applicants submitting applications to SpaceX to participate in the expedition to Mars, Musk noted that they should be "careful in their desires" and assess all of the above risks.

Elon Musk also noted that, in his opinion, SpaceX will be able to send humans to Mars by 2026, while NASA said it hopes for a mission only in the 2030s.
