Chinese automaker NIO has unveiled a newelectric sedan ET5, able to compete with the famous Tesla Model 3. The novelty received a design similar to the larger model of the company ET7, and some body elements are borrowed from the expensive hypercar Nio EP9.
Two electric motors with a total power of 360 kW(483 hp) generate 700 Nm of torque and are capable of accelerating the car to 100 km / h in just 4.3 seconds. Depending on the requirements of customers, the car is equipped with one of three modifications of the battery pack. The basic configuration with a capacity of 75 kWh provides autonomous driving up to 500 km. The standard model (100 kWh) will provide up to 700 km of mileage on a single battery charge, while the flagship battery with a capacity of 150 kWh will provide non-stop driving up to 1000 km.
The rather modest interior of the car is practicallycopied entirely from the interior of the ET7. The dashboard is equipped with a 10.2-inch monitor with support for the proprietary PanoCinema platform with augmented and virtual reality. The cabin has 256-color lighting, and the acoustics supports Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 surround sound technology. Also, a digital key has been developed for the car based on UWB technology.
NIO ET5 successfully passedsafety tests C-NCAP and Euro NCAP, which received the highest rating of 5 stars. The sale of one of the Chinese competitors Tesla Model 3, the ET5 electric car, will start in September next year. The base ET5 model will be priced at $ 51,000.
