In an article about Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, I jokingly wrote that the company that undertook to give names to cars like

smartphones, only the Pro Max version is missing andvoila, meet Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max. The Chinese manufacturer only needs to release Tiggo 8 mini and Tiggo 8 SE to assemble a full house. Well, okay, maybe Chery's marketing department just didn't want to bother with naming, or maybe they really specifically focused on consonance with "apple" products, although it is doubtful that the latter helps sales.

Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max is one of the fewnovelties in our market lately. The model is a modified version of Tiggo 8 Pro, which has been sold in Russia since last 2021 and about which we have already told you:

External differences between Tiggo 8 Pro and Tiggo 8 ProMax is minimal, here the manufacturer did not change anything much, only added a border around the branded radiator grille to the “maximum” version, and made twin exhaust pipes at the back. In general, such minor changes are enough, because the body design is quite fresh, it is only a year old, especially since it initially turned out to be very nice and relevant. The optics in the older model remained the same, fully LED, but I noticed that the headlights, although they have a concentrated beam of light, but they hit close and somehow more down, and adjusting the height through the system settings does not save the situation. The crossover's direction indicators are dynamic, and the taillights are matrix, like those of more expensive models, which looks attractive.


But in the cabin of changes in Tiggo 8 Pro Max alreadymore so than outside. So, dual screens appeared in the car, by analogy with MBUX from Mercedes-Benz, and along the entire length of the front panel there is an air duct grille, for the most part, of course, decorative, which refers us to Audi. Attention is also drawn to the new front seats, in the maximum configuration of brown, with comfortable headrests a la S-class. The center console has not changed much, it is still made of black gloss, which attracts dust and quickly becomes covered with small scratches. On the other hand, the manufacturer added an automatic transmission joystick backlight and neat multi-color contour interior lighting, which can even wink to the beat of the music, which is strange and brings back memories of the first Chinese cassettes, which were necessarily equipped with light and music.

But if you do not pay attention to borrowing indesign, the interior of the Tiggo 8 Pro Max looks pretty decent, and the materials are in perfect order. On top we have soft plastic with fake stitching, neat decorative inserts below, a little lower elements sheathed in artificial leather, in the color of the interior. Well, below the line of sight, you can already find inexpensive hard plastic, the panels of which are quite thin and easily squeezed under your fingers. But Chinese manufacturers, of course, are growing and the quality of the interior of their cars is no longer what it used to be, but a head or even two higher.

Changes in the interior of the car, in comparison withthe usual "firmware", touched not only the visual component. So, the car received new, not as soft as in Tiggo 8 Pro, front seats, with developed lateral support and a good profile, in addition to this, they also have soft headrests with adjustable “lugs”. In addition, the electrically adjustable front seats have also expanded, the driver also has them with position memory, and steering wheel adjustment for reach was enough. Now in a crossover you can really get comfortable behind the wheel, it remains only for the manufacturer to supplement the seats by adjusting the length of the pillow and add a little stiffness to them, since you still start to get tired of them over a long distance.

According to the visibility from the driver's seat, questions tothere is no crossover, the racks are thin enough and do not block the view, and rather large side mirrors are also supplemented with a blind spot monitoring system with an indication in the far corner. At first, I was a little embarrassed only by the salon mirror, which comes with an increase, but you quickly get used to it.

Boarding / disembarking in the car is free, the doors open wide, and their lower part closes the thresholds, which always remain clean.

By myself with a height of 187 cm, I sit down completelyfreely, if the sofa is moved as far back as possible, there is room in the legs, the knees do not reach the back of the front seat, and the top of my head does not rest against the ceiling, despite the huge panoramic roof with an automatic sunroof in its front part. The panorama is closed by default with a fabric curtain, which can be opened either fully or halfway, which is convenient if, for example, children are sleeping behind. The child behind me is also spacious, however, the manufacturer hid the Isofix mounts between the pillows, so you will have to tinker with installing a child seat. As in the case of the “Pro” version, here the interior is seven-seater, but since the dimensions of the car have not changed, the gallery remains convenient only for children, and then, if you move the central sofa a little forward. Landing on the third row is also not the most comfortable, the opening is relatively small, although the child can easily seep into it.

Trunk Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max in a five-seaterperformance is huge - 1,179 liters (under the ceiling). If you expand the third row of seats (it is more convenient to do this from the trunk by pulling on special fabric handles), then it will decrease to a very modest 193 liters, and this, again, is data from the ceiling, in fact, even an ordinary city backpack has to be put sideways. And if you fold the third and second row of seats - the latter folds in a 60/40 ratio and forms a flat floor - we get a huge space with a capacity of 2,101 liters. We have a luggage compartment lid with an electric drive, the ability to open it with a wave of your foot, and in the system settings you can adjust the height of its opening.

The media system in the car is equipped with 12.3-inch HD touchscreen (1920×720). The picture quality on the display is good, the responsiveness of the screen is also at a decent level, but the oleophobic coating could be better. The menu is quite nimble, designed in the style of iOS, on a permanent basis on the left side we have a shortcut key to the home screen and a voice assistant. The latter responds to "Hi, Chery!" and can help you with simple actions. For example, you can ask him to open or close the panoramic roof blind, and, of course, simply give a command, make a voice call.

For iPhone owners, a pleasant moment will besupport for the Apple CarPlay platform, however, only by wire, but those who have Android smartphones will have to be content with the QDLink application. The latter has its own convenient menu for quick navigation and allows you to duplicate almost any application from your smartphone on the car display. Of the typical Chinese options, I note the ability to view video from external media, even on the go, you just need to unlock access in the settings.

Virtual dashboard in the car12.3 inches with HD resolution. On it you can only view information, but you can only interact with data with those related to the on-board computer. As for media data, you can only see information about the radio station or the song being played, and the incoming call window is also displayed here. Work with playlists and call lists in Tiggo 8 Pro Max is carried out only from the main display. There are three display themes available for the digital dashboard, but I find only one of them easy to use.

Our car also had standard navigation.Turbo Dog, with a simple visual design, but not bad cartography, and even with marks about high-speed cameras, which the system announces in advance by voice. At the same time, the map can even be pulled out in full-format mode on the dashboard display, or you can be content with visual clues along the route on it.

At the front, both connectors are hidden in the center armrest, on top of which there is a special sliding platform with a cutout for wires, on which you can place the device. There, on the center console, there is also a niche in which the smartphone can be placed vertically. Wireless charging according to the Qi standard is located on the lower tier of the center console. This placement of wireless charging is not the most convenient, since the smartphone is completely hidden from you, and in order to reach it, you have to twist your hand. Modern gadgets are charged from the on-board network of the car quite cheerfully, so there is no need to use adapters in the cigarette lighter, there are enough standard capabilities.

Enough driver assistants in the cara lot, but we’ll leave the story about them for the next material, since in the current test Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max one of my colleagues managed to break the main radar (you can see a hole under the front number in the pictures) and carefully put it in the trunk. And since the work of almost all assistants is tied to the radar, then, accordingly, they either did not work for us at all, or worked incorrectly.

Let me just say that the crossover has cameras andparking sensors in a circle, and the system displays a high-quality picture, even with the ability to spin a virtual car. During turns at low speed, the Surround Vision System can also be activated for additional visibility when manoeuvring.

As for comfort options, here we havedual-zone climate control with its own color touch screen, which does not carry any payload, but is made more for beauty, to attract buyers. Controlling the climate from the screen, especially on the go, is inconvenient, since the manufacturer has duplicated the temperature and airflow controls with convenient physical keys. By the way, there is the same set of keys on the driver’s side and on the front passenger’s side, but if the temperature changes for them separately, then the airflow is the same for everyone and this key was given to the passenger, apparently only for symmetry in design. Climate control in automatic mode works well, unlike the “Pro” version, it practically does not require adjustments in the process. For the rear passengers, separate deflectors are available, as well as airflow control, but for the gallery there are only air ducts. Also in the car there is a heated windshield and a heated steering wheel, and besides this, a two-level heating of the front and rear seats (second row). Additionally, in the “maximum” version, a two-level ventilation of the front seat cushions and an air filtration function in the cabin appeared.

In terms of comfort, the car is quite pleasant, in the cabinfor the most part it is quiet, only slight aerodynamic noise appears at speed, and the noise from the roadway increases. Noise isolation could have been better, but it seems the manufacturer deliberately did not improve it, leaving it as an advantage for its premium Exeed brand. The suspension transmits most of the small and medium-sized irregularities to the cabin, but at the same time it is very good at working out hitting large ledges and potholes.

If the usual Chery Tiggo 8 Pro came with gasoline1.6TGDI engine, the Tiggo 8 Pro Max received a 2.0 TGDI turbocharged gasoline engine with 197 hp. and a maximum torque of 375 Nm in the range of 2000–3500 rpm. The engine is mated to a seven-speed DCT7 automatic transmission with two wet clutches. Such a car can accelerate to 100 km / h in 8.5 seconds.

The engine-gearbox linkage is perfectly tuned, andthe power of the new engine is enough with a margin even for free overtaking on the track. It is enough just to slightly push the gas pedal and the car gets the right acceleration even at high speed. The box behaves smoothly in most cases, quickly and clearly switching to the desired gear. Only the brakes are upsetting, which are a little lacking for effective braking. Yes, and the steering is somehow wadded, this is especially felt when entering the arc at speed, when the lack of feedback is especially felt. Plus, the crossover has a pronounced buildup of the body. But if you don’t drive and play checkers on Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max, then the car’s shortcomings practically do not appear, and the owner for the most part will enjoy the trip.

It is quite possible to drive off the road in a crossover, butit is worth remembering that it has a ground clearance of 190 mm, and all-wheel drive is activated electronically. But in general, if without fanaticism, then it is quite possible to drive to hard-to-reach places on the Tiggo 8 Pro Max, and even in winter the owner will feel confident on it. Fortunately, there are six driving modes for different road conditions. The only thing is that on a rough road in the cabin you can hear the creaking of the body in the area of ​​\u200b\u200bthe racks, as if it is not rigid enough, although, perhaps, the interior lining manifests itself so strangely.

The fuel consumption of Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max is notto say that it’s small, on the highway I got an average of 8.5 liters per 100 km, and in dense city traffic it went beyond the mark of 10 liters per hundred. You can fill the car with 92-m gasoline.

The price of Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max in Russia starts frommarks 3,440,900 rubles, but this is the cost with an asterisk, which means using the maximum discounts for all promotions. At dealers of the brand, a crossover without discounts costs around 4 million for the initial, but not poor equipment, and the maximum version will cost a little less than 4.5 million rubles.
