Elon Musk never ceases to amaze hisnon-standard approach to creating cars and everything related to them. More recently, the Cybertruck (a very futuristic-looking car) was presented to the general public, which we reported in a separate article. So sign up to no longer miss out on this. However, it has recently become known that Tesla is working on a technology based on laser beams that will be installed on the windshields of vehicles. These rays will be used instead of car wipers. And it's not a joke.
How to clean glass with a laser
According to Electrek, earlier this yearTesla has filed a patent application for a system called "Pulse Laser Laser Cleaning System for Debris Accumulated on the Glass Surfaces of Vehicles". Patent information has been made public this week. The author of the project is Firoze Dalal. And here is how he describes his invention in a patent application:
The cleaning system includes a laser deviceoptics, which directs a laser beam to a portion of a car’s glass, as well as a debris detection circuit in a specific glass area and a control circuit. The control circuit adjusts the parameters of the laser radiation depending on the location and degree of contamination, and controls the power and other parameters of the laser beam. At the same time, the laser exposure control system restricts the penetration of the laser beam to a depth, which prevents the laser from damaging the glass or passing behind it, but at the same time makes it possible to effectively cope with solid particles on the glass surface.
It is worth noting that Tesla (as well as all the otherscompanies) does not always bring its patents to the final stages. And not every device described in patent applications has a chance to at least turn into a prototype. However, some sources claim that such systems are already being tested in the laboratories of the company Ilona Mask. So we have every chance to see a laser-based glass cleaning system in the near future. And how do you like this development? Write your opinion in our chat in Telegram.

Moreover, what will happen to the good oldjanitors are not clear. Moreover, the patent does not say anything about whether the laser will help clean glass from rain. However, as it turned out, cars are far from the only area of application of new technology. For example, Tesla plans to use lasers to automatically remove debris from solar panels installed on roofs of houses that are actively moving into the masses right now. In addition, lasers can be used to clean ordinary glasses, as well as to install them on various robotic mechanisms, where laser systems can clean optical systems and other sensors from contamination, thereby greatly improving their performance.
