Tesla autopilot failed to cope with chaotic traffic on Vietnamese streets and asked for driver assistance (2 videos)

Author of HighTech Machining's YouTube channelA short 26-second video showed the timid attempts of the autopilot of the Tesla Model X electric car to overcome the uncontrolled, chaotic traffic on the streets of the largest Vietnamese city of Hosemin, which is home to 8.5 million inhabitants.

The streets of the Vietnamese metropolis are overcrowdedmotorcycles moving in different directions and performing extreme, sometimes unnecessarily dangerous maneuvers. All this created an additional load on the Tesla Autopilot system, which, after several attempts to advance in the traffic congestion at speeds up to 6 km / h, eventually “begged” for help and transferred control to the driver. Several times nimble Vietnamese motorcyclists drove just a few centimeters from Tesla, which further puzzled the control system, which was not "used" to such chaos on the road.

Full stop by Tesla Autopilotof an electric car in incomprehensible road conditions characterizes the autopilot on the positive side, but at the same time raises the question of the possibility of an autonomous trip in the conditions of lies metropolises, constantly standing in traffic jams. Therefore, Tesla developers and road services are required to study traffic conditions in different countries and possibly restrict some autopilot functions on the streets of cities with poorly controlled, chaotic vehicle traffic.

It should be recalled that to replace the Tesla systemAutopilot in the near future should arrive FSD (Full Self-Driving Capability), a much more advanced system, leading up to the full transfer of control of the car into the "hands" of the autopilot. In the United States, the company has already begun to study its work in test mode from the end of October 2020. The FSD has received many updates and improvements during testing, and Tesla promises to announce the next major system update this month. A YouTube channel recently released a video showing how the FSD Beta system "sees" the traffic situation, reads the markings, identifies road signs and unauthorized cars.
